Although i agree that this is the case, it´s not so simple. In the Geforce3 era the jump in tech/quality was MASSIVE. I remember the jump from Quake 3 to Doom3. Doom 3 was unbelivable heavy, like, 3-4 fps with overclock. It simply erected a wall that no current gpu at the time could surpass...
