Not as good as the P D 920 yesterday for $70 more, but still a pretty good deal. The 410L motherboard has built in Xpress 200 video, 1 PCI-E x16 slot and 3 PCI slots.

The motherboard in the combo is this one: http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWeb/Products/ProductsDetail.aspx?DetailID=565&MenuID=93&LanID=9

Newegg, 805 is $135. (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819116001)

so the mobo is costing Fry's combo buyers $10.

what does this CPU compare to in AMD land?
- without OC and with OC?

Roughly at stock, probably like a A64 4000+ (single core) or better in multithreaded apps. Slower in single threaded apps, possibly more like a S754 Sempron 2600+. Maybe if AMD made a 128KB x 2 1.6GHz dual core Sempron X2 2600+ the 805 would have an AMD equal. :p

The Intel forum has a couple of overclocked Pentium D 805 benchmarks. It takes an overclock to 3.7-3.9GHz (@ 740-780MHz FSB... very possible on air with a different motherboard) to match my overclocked X2 3800+ @ 2.55GHz in the benchmarks i've seen there. But the 805 is over $100 cheaper than the X2 3800+.

You can often get a retail Sempron 2800+ (64-bit version) and motherboard combo for $80 at Fry's, but no PCI-E slot. Usually the NF3 board is included. That is a better bang for the buck if you're just gaming, but this 805 combo is pretty unique for a dual core bang for the buck because it has no equal yet. And IMO buying an AGP board now is a liability. Decent cards are expensive and choice is getting much more limited.

Actually what would really rock would be a dirt cheap ~ $160 1.6 ghz x2 that you could OC the crap out of.
