I was going over 500GB drives and was wondering which one of these I should go with:

Seagate Barracuda 7200.9 ST3500641AS 500GB 7200-RPM 16MB-Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s

Western Digital Caviar RE2 WD5000YS 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive

Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 (Perpendicular Recording) ST3500630AS 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive
(I get a free 250GB desktop hard disk, or 80GB laptop hard disk with this one)

I'm looking for a quiet drive above all else, but I also want it to be a good performer.

I bought two of the 500YS WD5000YS drives. They carry a 5 year warranty and seem to be fast. They are not loud.

I have only had them about a month, but I like them so far.

3rd bump for WD
the YS has 5 year warranty, i have a few of them running in a P180.
Was loading them up for the past 4 days, nothing more than a whisper. (at best)

But KS are supposed to be a bit quieter
you can check out the reviews over at SilentPCreview

WD gets my vote.
