XtremeGamer Fatal1ty Pro > X-Fi XtremeGamer
XtremeGamer Fatal1ty Pro > X-Fi XtremeGamer
Using GCO, the non-Fatal1ty would be $55 and no rebate, which isn't bad for an x-fi. The Fatal1ty does have x-ram though which might be important. Am I right in thing the XtremeGamer Fatal1ty Pro doesn't have the front panel though?

+$20 to secure a crackle free BF2142 experience makes too much sense. The LED's a nice touch too. :D Let's me know if the pc's on.

looks like an awesome deal, but can someone explain the point of these things?
if you have optical out on your MoBo how could this possibly sound any better?
besides buying it for the inputs/outputs/remote control, what can this thing do that the on board audio cant? how about when it comes to audio production n stuff?
thanks :)

X-Fi CMSS®-3D Headphone creates nine virtual speakers over stereo headphones for positional audio that's so accurate you can actually locate enemies by sound.
ROFL!!!!!!!!!!
Except Quake4, UT2k4 and BF2 - what games actually support xram?

I wondered the same thing. It appears that the Fatality pro Does have the breakout box

Using onboard sound will take a small hit on performance.
However, with an adequate system you shouldn't notice the performance difference.
These X-Fi sound cards are better than most onboard sound. The price premium would be seen on any motherboard that has onboard sound that is competetive with these sound cards.
Most hardcore gamers refuse to use onboard sound as they aren't willing to risk the 2 frames per second drop that might be seen (or more or less)

Prey, and don't knock CMSS-3D till you've tried it, it totally rocks. I love it, nothing like playing in a close quarter urban/jungle map and turning to face your opponent before he comes into sight. Gets you banned fast at some servers.

No, it doesn't. The "Pro" version comes without the remote and the front panel. I have the non pro version and I like the front panel, works great for adjusting volume on the fly and hooking up my dt770's. I just wish I could change from game mode to entertainment mode via the front panel.

Nice deal. Does this differ at all from the original X-Fi Fatality release?
Only two things I don't like about this card. They removed the Firewire port from the LiveDrive (vs the Audigy2) and they're still using a ribbon cable for some unknown reason. But $75 is a steal.

I would like to know as well, because on fry's the picture shows it comes with the front panel but it says it is a Creative XtremeGamer Fatal1ty Pro Series, but on creative's website it shows that particular model not coming with the front panel.

I would probably trust Creative on this one and assume that it does NOT come with the breakout box.

I got a large bill from the auto shop for a lower intake gasket and won't be able to upgrade my 2 ZS to a X-Fi... :(

I went to Fry's after work to pick up the $79 Pentium D 805 + motherboard combo they had. The Fatal1ty Pro was $149 on the shelf so it's $35 more than online.

The "larger view" (http://image.ak.outpost.com/art/product/big_shots/5020035.big.jpg) link from Outpost shows the older Fatal1ty model w/ the panel.
The Xtreme Gamer (http://image.ak.outpost.com/art/product/box_shots/5020035.box.GIF) version on sale for 74.99AR DOES NOT have a front panel. Even the PDF (http://image.ak.outpost.com/art/rebates_pdf/5020035_0206.pdf) lists the Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Gamer Fatal1ty...which would be the newer version wo/ the bay.

I must be the only person aroudn that thinks the breakout boxes are largely mostly useless (unless you need the Midi ports).
I guess it's useful if you use headphones and the cable is short and have an aversion to cables extensions. I never used the volume control -- it's easier to use it within windows and easier still to use the volume control on my keyboard.
If it cost me nothing to get it, I'd certainly take it, though I'm not sure I'd install it, given that I've never bothered to install the SB-live box when I changed cases.

You're not alone. There's no way something that fugly will go in front of my pc. My mic's long enough to go around back and there's no mess because of it. As for the headphone port, Pimeta takes care of that up front on my desk w/ a nice big volume knob. :D

This is a huge ymmv, but you might be able to buy a refurb platinum (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16829102190R) for $161 + shipping and then get the $100 MIR. All the refurbs I've bought from the egg have been in the full box with upc, though the invoice normally shows them as open box or oem. Don't have adobe installed on this machine to see the full terms of the rebate though.

I'd look closely at the rebate details first. That said, many have said in the past that you can buy a front panel from Creative for 30 bucks (as I recall). I suppose you could use the panel from older SB Live cards as well (assuming they use the same connectors.

X-Fi drivers will mute your main speakers (if you wish so ofc) when headphones are plugged into drive bay...
Additional point for getting drive bay module is "amount" of ouputs in the back of card. I advise to inspect the card a bit closer... you will find out you might be couple of jacks short of what Audigy sports (mic and line in are shared for exmaple if I recall right).
