I spend to much on computers it self to get a new mouse lol.. on that note I got my 8th computer in this house and it was a gift to my mom.

Btw the teflon slick pads are great I got them with my 8800gtx.

Gah, I bought one last month and it made me realize that the pads on the bottom of my MX510 needed to be replaced.

Btw, in case anyone that's reading this is still unsure, the Ratpadz XT is amazing.

Alright, I'm too curious to resist, and free stuffs is good. I've always been an 1/8" clothpad kinda guy so we'll see how it goes.

I should inspect the box, kick it around a bit and RMA it a few times, call for technical support ("My pointer moves DOWN when I move the mouse UP!!!") and then write a review on the [H] main page.

It'll have to pass the static + hair test.. I have 3 cats. Heh, heh..

Ordered a new XT to replace my trusty GS. Its like the Tootsiepop thing, how many licks does it take to get to the center?......only its how many frags to wear my ratpadz thin as a wafer. Its worn so smooth in some places you can see the outline of the strengthening grids molded into the bottomside. I think 2002 was when I originally picked it up. Long time!

Just got mine in yesterday with the foot pads.
I now find that my mouse is way less accurate then before the pad.
The cursor will constantly move up the screen without me even touching the mouse.
Maybe I just need to adjust the sensitivity settings as my desk is level with no shaking at all.

i bit also. Very interested in a long lasting pad without breaking the bank. I have gone through 2 pads so far, both very slick at first but not lasting more than 8 months (less depending how slick you really like your pad).

Gaming on average about 30-60 hours a week, I hope to put the durability of this pad to a real test.

Unfortunately the same for me. Tried it the last couple days and i never thought that a mouse pad could be too slick, but it seems so. Kind of strange because i use the "speed" side of my excatmat with teflon feet and the speed of my mouse is virtually the same as on the Ratz. However, accuracy is way higher on my exactmat it seems. Anyways, it's certainly a well built mousepad and my son loves it now :)

Just got mine in today! Boy, what a DIFFERENCE over the old, worn-out GS. Glad they fixed it. Now I'm going to have to re-calibrate my mouse settings to account for the super-slickness. Thanks, Kyle. Very happy here!

ChuckLez
04-04-2007, 06:49 PM
i just got mine today with the teflon feet.

The slickness does not surprise me as im used to new mousepads (gone through 2 already that worn out). The thing that does surprise me is that concave cutout. I just dont like it at all because it always feels im gonna go off the pad with my mx518. I turn it around and everything is cool....sort of. With that concave there, in the exact center, the useable space comes out to be a little under 7.5 inches. The mx518 comes in at about 5.5 inches. I know with a certain degree of sensitivity, 2 inches is enough but it does make me wish they just gave me a regular rectangle instead. Their description of the pad as huge is a gross overstatement.

Now onto the teflon feet. They seem to reduce the grinding noise my mouse makes a bit. Worst part is getting them off the plastic sheet. I hope you dont chew your nails otherwise you are screwed. After getting one off, they tend to roll in on itself making it harder. Once on though, they can be proven useful for mice with worn out feet. I do worry though that they will peel off easily. I can already see the edges start to roll after a quick 30 min. gaming section of COD2. It didnt make a speed difference with mine and my mouse has seen better days.

As mentioned above, you may actually need to recalibrate your mouse settings as this is a pretty slick surface.

Scroatdog
04-04-2007, 06:52 PM
Hmm....

I've been using mine with the concave output to the left, so that it becomes a natural "pocket" for the right-half of my keyboard. So I'm essentially using the mousepad in the vertical position. Maybe give that a try? Different strokes for different folks I know.

ChuckLez
04-04-2007, 08:06 PM
actually, that was a part i left out. I use a slide out tray and with it vertical instead leaves one of those stick feet on the bottom off the tray, letting the pad tilt back and forth which can get annoying.

Otherwise, having it vertical does fix the problem.

Also, I have seen some other reviews complaining about the thickness of this pad. Trust me when I say it does not matter unless your wrist is really does sensitive.

after a few gaming sessions. I have concluded that this pad is defiantly bad for me. With a medium sensitivity and a 5-inch mouse (Logitech Mx518). I cant stand the mouse going off the track again and again and again. The tracking and surface slides smooth but with that concave there, I keep running off edges. Even when the pad is turned vertical, it becomes too narrow. The size of it is just too small for my basic playing style.

Has anyone used the teflon pads yet? I'm using an MX700 and two of the feet are very close to the metal recharging plates. They're also pretty close to the battery cover. Do the pads have adhesive all over or just the outer parts? I'd have to trim some of them if I want to put them on.

They're nice in combo with the pad. I have the same mouse here as a spare, and looking at it I believe you will have to trim them, but it's really easy. I would recommend using an exacto or something similar, but scissors could even do it if you're careful not to get the pad stuck to itself.

Wow. 8 Years! I guess you feel as though you got your money's worth? ;) I just got rid of my revolution. It worked fine with the XT, but their were times when the mouse would lag out due to a connection issue. I never figued it out. Put it back in the box, went back to my old MX laser mouse.

Well, it was either a buy 1 get 1 free or maybe I got an extra one when I built my first Athlon box back in 2000 (if so 8 years is an overestimate). Either way I have two of them, but only one in regular use most of the time. Did you guys ever run a deal w/ PCNut?

I should post a pic just for giggles. :p

Yeah, on my 2nd Revolution. Logitech sent me a replacement after the wheel on the first one failed. Now the second one is really laggy. Most annoying so probably won't be around long. Maybe I'll give Logitech another RMA shot but this is pretty annoying. :(

It really depends if your GS is worn or not. The GS and the XT are almost indistinguishable when they are new. The XT's surface is a lot more durable than the GS. Short answer; if you like the GS stick with it.

Is there more than just those circle mouse feet? What if you have a mouse with different shape of feet. Like the razer deathadder?

The teflon pads are large. You can cut what you need from each circle. For the bottom foot, you can use two of them. I'd cut two halves for it. You can place the pads on the feet and trace with a pen or a fine-tip permanent marker.

Just just got 2 of these, shipped in 2 days not bad. The feet work great on my mouse at the office which is pretty crappy. Mouse glides alot better on this than the wood surface i was using and alot more accurate. All in all i'd say it's a pretty good deal, the first mouse pad i've ever bought.

I got mine today. The surface is a little rougher than my func1030 (rough side). Its also alot slicker than my func pad, but then again its brand new.

Pros:
Slick
durable
Grippy pad feet to keep it from sliding on your desk.

Cons:
No smooth side
Might be small for some.

Overall, its a decent pad at a decent price. Plus, mouse feet are included (around a $5 value)

Is this really worth it? Is there a noticable difference? Never actually bought a mousepad been using freebie mousepads for years. I still have a mx518. I like it and I didn't feel like spending on any of the newer mice.

Depends on if your freebies are cloth or the harder surface ones. With cloth, the difference is definitely noticeable, especially with the teflon feet. Much smoother. Cloth pads have a lot of friction. I don't know about the harder ones.

I almost bit till I read the guys complaining about the size.. I too like to use a BIG area for my mouse. Usually I just use my whole desk, but I'm starting to wear parts of the desk away :D

If it was bigger, I'd grab one. Are there any plans for a future XL size?

In other news - the Razer Mantis pad looks decent - 17"x14" and no cutouts. About the same price too..

If there's nothing planned for the future for a larger pad, I'm going to go with the Mantis..

Let me knwo
tthanks

I don't fully understand why a bigger mousepad would be necessary. Is your mouse sensitivity really low? You should be able to move your cursor from one side to the opposite without lifting your palm.

No, I just don't like lifting the mouse..

Picture this - you're in a tank, and you gotta swing the turret 360°. But the turret doesn't move very fast, and a guy is running around to the back..

With a small mouse pad you'll mover the turret a few feet then have to lift, few more feet, lift, etc.

Catch my drift?

that's just one example.

Yep. Your mouse sensitivity is too low.

Yeah, but if I turn the sensitivity up more, then when I jump out of the tank, my guy twists and turns like he's hopped up on crack.

I have the MX518 which has selectable sensitivities - but still - I just need a bigger area to move the mouse in.. Just my preference and style! :)

All I can say is it's bigger than most (if not all) mouse pads I've ever owned. When I first got it, I was taken back by how large it was. But if you're using your entire desktop, then I'd suggest you contact Kyle and find out how much they'd charge to make you a desk ;)

Received the Ratpadz XT last week. I'll agree with nilepez that this is bigger than many mouse pads most people use. As for the pad I think its great. I didn't like the feel of the mouse at first, but soon as I put on the slick pads its smooth as butter.

Just ordered one, can't wait to receive it. This will be my first "real" mousepad, and a huge upgrade from my tattered generic brand rubber-ish pad. My MX1000 will love me for this.

Edit: Well, after a day of use, I just can't see myself using this mousepad anymore. I used the "contact" button on the ratpadz site to setup a return.

Mine just came...and I'm never using a cloth mousepad again. They made such nice swag too...:( Oh well, more room in the bag for t-shirts.

It wasn't completely flat after USPS got done with it, causing some rocking since it's so rigid, but it was easy to fix with a bit of flexing as shown on the product site. It worked very nicely even with the severely scratched state of the feet of my mouse, even better after using the teflon pads. Time for some...umm...extended testing...:D

I got mine in today.I have enough teflon pads to do about 4 mice. It's stable and sturdy and it has enough traction and glide.

I'll see how it works for a while but for now I'm happy.

anyone else unable to order on the ratpadz page? I've tried 2 browser on 2 different computers, and I see no way to actually select a mouse pad to add to the cart.

I noticed the same thing earlier today, but as of this post the main page seems to have been fixed, and you can order once again. Maybe that part of the site was swallowed up with the recent forum problems?

Just a quick question, the slick pads are bundled with the Ratpadz I assume right? And since they don't have a tracking ETA, I'm assuming priority shipping is a few days ? (to WA if it matters)

Just thought I'd drop in to say that my new XT+slick pads are doing fantastic with my G5...killer combination.

If you're feeling dangerous, try spraying a nominal amount of the pledge onto your ratpadz. Warning-your mouse may fly off into the wall :D

Is there a specific type of pledge to use on the ratpadz? I noticed they have that new pledge multi-surface in a spray bottle that lists electronics on it? Or are you guys talking about the pledge with the wax in it?

I would like to see where you read that? I have never seen that said about the XT.

I personally have never been a Razer fan and do not test with their mice.

I read that DeathAdders had a problem with hard pads itself, but Gaiden told me it's fine with the XT.

I suggest a bit of testing for Razer mice maybe? They have some nice mice out now.

Kyle has also parked his H2 on top of one and taken a picture which can be seen right here (http://ratpadz.com/) at the bottom of the page.

Durable is actually its middle name. :D

durable yeh..? but cant almost every mouse pad take that weight onto it since its so small

How can I get my BFG teflon pads? They were not in the box my ratzpad just came in?!?!
I would love to have them because 2 of the feet on my MX1000 are wore off and it makes the mouse uneven.

There is like 9 pads that hold the mousepad in place, it does not move at all during gaming sessions.

I am not sure as I didnt get any in my package. I assume they are little circle or oval shape things that go onto your mousepads bottom where the original pads that came on the mouse were.
