Are these the 7200.10? If so I'm totally in for two.
Levii
03-20-2007, 03:21 PM
Almost what I'm looking for. A quick google shows these as being the 7200.9's, can anyone confirm they aren't the 7200.10's?
Anyone know if these prices are good at the B&M's?
tuffgong
03-20-2007, 03:22 PM
Weren't they labeled as 7200.9 as well last time?
Levii
03-20-2007, 03:23 PM
Wasn't it hit or miss? You could get either the 7200.10 in a 7200.9 box, or the actual 7200.9 in the 7200.9 box.
NeoGohan
03-20-2007, 03:23 PM
Yeah I think so. Or vice versa. All remember last time was that they shipped both 7200.9's and 7200.10's together. Although I think most people got 10's last time.

Description: This 400GB Barracuda 7200.9 SATA NCQ internal hard drive provides a speedy 11ms average access time at a 7200 rpm spindle speed. Its 3Gb/s transfer rate via its SATA interface will knock your socks off.
LOL
It's either this or the WD OEM for the same price.
What is the majot difference in the 9 and 10 versions?
25 cents per gig is lukewarm at best.

The 10s, I believe, use the perpendicular technology.

25 cents per gig is the lowest I've seen for any hard drive. But that's just me.

And even if you find something for less than $0.25, it's probably $0.23 or so. You'll rarely find legitimate (:D) hard drive deals for less than a quarter per gig.

You'll probably find this pretty useful:

Never heard of BareFeats before. No idea how reputable they are.

The ones in the review are 320GB though, which are supposedly faster than the larger sized 7200.10s.

.10s use the new perpendicular (sp??) recording tech. Actual specs are very similar, however.
WD OEM = 1 Year Warranty
Seagate = 5 Year Warranty

Last time I got in on one of these from Fry's, I got a 7200.10 FWIW. Retail box...works like a charm.
tuffgong
03-20-2007, 05:32 PM
Yes, but the last time Fry's had these, "perpendicular recording" was in the specs.
How big of a difference is there between the .9 and .10s? Is it faster?

How about this? Supposed to be SILENT!
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822152085
Not a bad price. $5 more than some sales that have been floating around with 400gb.
The only downside is that it's OEM from NE. NE HD OEM shipping is bleh.
Anyone have any info on this drive? Performance? Warranty? I'm guessing it's like most Sammy T's... silent.

Sorry.
Seems like new drive... Warranty? Performance? The 250WD suspended isn't bad but want to try these. Was told to wait for 500 to come down in price though... WHEN? lol

Which harddrive, frys or newegg, would be a good harddrive to get as a second one? Not really caring about performance but rather a bigger storage HD?

Got mine very quickly. I selected the free ground shipping and got it the next day (today) that is very unusual for here.
The sticker on the drive says 7200.10 so I guess I am one of the lucky ones :D

How long would "a while ago" be? My company ordered a drive from them (along with some other parts) to build a PC for the owner's father, and the hard drive had parts broken off of the circuit board! They took it back and waived the restocking fee but it still delayed the completion of the PC.

If you're griping about Newegg, that sounds a whole lot more like a shipping problem to me than one about the company you bought it from. Besides, if they waived the restocking fee, that's not normal, and shows good respect for the customer. Don't hate them; they did nothing wrong.
