I picked one up for this price. All the 1st gen 22" LCD's use the same panel - so if you've seen on your've seen them all. They are quite good for the money. Two of my friends have a samsung 22" lcd with this same panel in it. Very Nice dispay. For this price you can't go wrong!

ive had this monitor for about 3 months now. great flat screen, no dead pixels or anything else... VERY little backlight. the only time i can notice it when my screen is completely black on bootup, tiny bit on the top left. With my 7600gt, the picture still looks great.

Wow, I got one of these today too. Very nice display. No dead pixels, very little backlight bleed. All in all a very high bang for the buck. Calibrate it and you'll be very glad you didn't pay $100+ more for a sammy or an hp.

I have one local so it was $256 after taxes. :D

I just hooked mine up that I bought today. No dead pixels, very little if ANY backlight bleed - actually less than my friends that have samsungs with the same panel ???!!!???

And the colors look great out of the box! I didn't have to adjust a thing so far. The screen real-estate is great!

cool. looks like 22"'s are getting way cheaper. the same thing at newegg for 10 dollars more plus ship: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824252008

also, the other 22"ers http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=2010190020+1309822582&name=22%22

once these guys get to the sub 200 mark, i might have to bite. almost did until i saw that these on a whole were getting cheaper. i could really use some good ol 1680x1050 on my desktop. have had it on my 15.4" laptop for a few years now. honestly, having a 19" with that kind of res wouldn't be that bad.

spectre for $10 more. supposedly has 2000:1 contrast compared to the chimei's 800:1. Also, better response time of 2ms. looks really nice but doesn't look to be wall mountable if that's a big deal for anyone

i think those specs are debatable/wrong from what i have read, not sure though.

yeah...they are wrong.

All first gen 22" LCDs have the same exact panel, and actually a division of Chimei makes all the panels for the 22" SO, if you've seen one 22" first gen monitor you've seen them all - regardless of specs. The differences are the inputs and the bezel/stand etc. But the actual LCD screen itself is the same regardless. They only just recently came out of with the second gen 22" panels. Their response time is 2MS compared to 5MS-8MS which all the 1st gen monitors claim.

I don't know how the companies get away with the mislabeling - but they do. There is one 22" LCD that is the same panel as this one that claims 3000:1 ---- Chemel makes them so in that since I would probably trust their specs.

Also - suffice to say - this is a VERY nice monitor for only $240. If you are holding back for the sub 200 mark you might not find that for a long time as a regular price point and it's not worth the wait. Sell your current CRT/LCD and buy this - you won't regret it.

alright...this monitor is great after using it for a day!!!!! but the chink is that non-native resolutions are pretty cruddy.

LCDs generically have this problem but the 16x10 aspect ratio being changed to say 1024x768 makes a typical old school game at 800x600 or 1024x768 look pretty cruddy.

Does anyone have any idea how to turn off the full size scaling? I'd rather use black bars on the sides!

I have an Nvidia 7800GS running through DVI.

DANGN'T

I just discovered this monitor does not have HDCP --- meaning you can't play High Definition sources from your HD-DVD drive or PS3 on this monitor through DVI.

I've been trying to figure this out for multiple days and just figured out the reason why by downloading the cyperlink advisor - A little program that verifies if your system is ready for HD viewing.

GRRRR...

anybody know any work arounds?

I've tried both windvd8 and powerdvd ultra....these applications will start the movie for about 2 seconds and then cut out.

grrrrrr.

You can install AnyDVD HD, but there are no guarantees. It works for some people, and others it doesn't. Currently all the software players for computers require HDCP, so you _could_ get just audio and no video if you don't have HDCP.

I'd like to know this as well. Is it possible to run at a normal aspect ratio with black bars on the sides for certain games? Is this a software or hardware dependent thing, or both? This is the only thing holding me back from getting a 22".

I thought that this monitor was vista certified, so it would have hdcp?
