hmm... I was looking at getting a lian-li (THIS (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811112117) or THIS (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811112066)), but this looks badass. Anybody have any input as to which one I should consider if I have ~6-8 hard drives, 3 5.25" devices and a semi-heavily OC'd system on air?

I have the stacker 830 in silver, and 8 hard drives and 3 5.25 drives is the max that you could do. Of course, you need to buy the 4-in-3 drive cage to get the extra 4 drives. If you're ever thinking of taking the case with you, its one heavy mother of a case.
Oh and its very air cooling friendly so you should be fine with OC'ing.

Thanks for the link! However, the specs say it has 9 5.25" bays and 4 3.5" bays, so wouldn't this mean I could fit 12 hard drives and 3 5.25" drives (4 original hdd bays, and two sets of 3 5.25" bays)?

I wish I would have found answers for all of these questions, but I went ahead and ordered it anyway :
Of course I found this AFTER I ordered: Stacker 832 for $205 AR shipped (http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=10005349)
Should I cancel/refuse shipment and get the 832 instead?

I think there are mostly a few cosmetic changes between the two esp the front of the case.

Conclusions
So, how does the 832 measure up against the 830, not to mention all the other cases in the world?
To be honest, it performs exactly the same as the 830. Primarily because the 832 is almost exactly the same. Sure, there's now support for a 230mm EPS power supply, the airflow has been supposedly improved somehow and the door looks a little different, but in reality the case seems more like an alternate version of the 830 rather than a new and improved design.

I'm willing to bet that even the 4x HDD bay included takes up 3 of the 5.25 bays just like all the extra modules do, so while there's technically 9 bays, 3 are already used up off the bat.

Sorry, forgot to look back at this thread.
Yup exactly, so potentially you could get 2 more 4-in-3 cages for 12 drives total and use external usb cd/dvd drives i guess. Even still with the limitations I think you'll like the case. Construction is just incredible, pretty roomy, and lots of ventilation.

Three lower bays are used up right off the bat. If you want to do it right, then go this route. Supermicro 5x3 Hotswap bays - work great with the eight 750gb Seagates I have. I have the Stacker 832 and it's the best case I've ever owned functionality wise. Build wise, it's a bit cheap here and there, but the function (flippable motherboard tray, side panel fans, excellent cooling, universal front bays, etc make it a top choice. Trust me, I have a Silverstone TJ09 and this case wins hands down in function, not quality. Now don't get me wrong, it's built very nicely - just a bit flimsy in certain areas.:

yeah I should have just looked at the pictures to see the hdd/bay configuration (doh! :o ).
One thing I have researched/found out about is the Tuniq tower CPU HS/F might be too big for the case... Can anyone confirm? If that's the case I might have to consider refusing shipment or something... Newegg doesn't charge a restocking fee if that happens, do they?
EDIT - NICE hot swap bays... although, how is the cooling for those drives? Seems like an awful lot of drives w/ only one 90mm fan...
Also, does anyone know where I can get a window side-panel for this case? I found a few "stacker" window panels but they all seem to be for the earlier models.

My drives run from 35C to 40C with a Silverstone (92x25mm) fan which is very quiet. Once in a while one may go to 41-42C under very high disk load, but that's pretty rare. With the stock Sanyo Denki I would expect the temps to be 30-35C but it was just too loud (92x32mm) . In my TJ09, the same drives were running at close to 45C at idle with a 65CFM 120mm fan. So the 5x3's run over 5C-8C cooler.
Here's my current temps as pulled from the Areca web GUI. These are all Seagate 7200.10 750gb drives and keep in mind they run hot right out of the box. I cannot hear the bay cooling fans and if I modded the bays with a bit of weather stripping to seal up the PCB to the sheet metal case to make all of the air flow come through the drive bays, it would probably drop temps another 2-3C. I may do that one of these days as the back of the bays has a few open holes that can allow the fan to draw air in bypassing the drives themselves.

Hdd#7 Temperature 36 ºC

My sentiments exactly. Doesn't make sense to spend more than 10% of a budget on what amounts to a metal box. If the money is there, then go for it...

you guys must drive honda elements and pontiac aztecs :D.
This is my first major case purchase (using a p180 now), but aesthetics, functionality and build quality can all make something stand out from the rest of its field. This seems to fit the bill--hopefully my Tuniq will fit without modification...
Also, I emailed performance-pcs and the said they should be selling the windows for the 830 series shortly.

Yes, I can confirm that the Tuniq Tower will be too big if you want to install the 4 side fan mounts. However, for some people it works if you remove one of the fans. It works for mine in closed mode, but hits the fan when it comes out. I was dissapointed when I found out about this.
If you don't want to install the 4 side fan bay, you are fine.
