Egg's prices seem to fluctuate frequently so I apologize if it's higher...
I locked in at $20 off, making it $34 then $14 after MIR.

I have this exact modem and it's never let me down. I almost want to order another just because it's such a good deal... too bad I can't run these in SLI :)
Maybe I'll get one as a just in case for emergencies and family members considering cable...

Is performance affected by modem model? Would there be any advantage to replace, say, a Toshiba PCX2600 with this?

FiOS is available here.
The cable is even run right up to my house.
But...
Verizon is evil... I had a horrible experience with Verizon Business FiOS at my last place. And I have a personal web/email server at home. The cheapest plan that doesn't block port 80 is $99/month with a two year contract.
I'd love to have faster upload for my server, but it's just way too expensive and evil. As for download, the vast majority of my downloads are server limited, not on my end :D
Anyway, glad some of us can enjoy the futuristic bandwidth :(

I hate seeing so many deals attached to rebates
:(
sure would be nice if newegg or whatever company sent in the rebates instead of us.

This is a gr8 deal. I've had one of these modems for 2, maybe 3 years and it's been perfect. I may get in on this deal to have a backup unit...although DOCSIS 3 is in the works.

I need to stop checking these forums haha. Just bought this modem and another 2 gigs of the corsair 1066 dominator memory for a combined total of 130 after rebate :D
