Seeing the falling price trend of this case, I know the price hasn't hit rock bottom, but with free card reader last time, I just couldnt resist.
One thing tho, the quality of this case is really beyond $20 in my opinion. I have yet to play around with mine, gonna check if my cpu cable is long enough or not

Wow, I ordered this when it was $30. At $10 it is even more amazing. A very nice case, at a hard to believe price. I might just order another for the heck of it!
At $10 a case, I wonder how much it actually costs to make these cases:confused: Surely there can't be any profit being made off of these.

I've been considering getting this case for a while, but what always puts me off is the psu bay being at the bottom of the case and i've heard a lot of talk about it being better for it to be at the top, since it's better able to vent out heat or something. But I rarely hear anyone mention this when describing the case, it's always very positive comments, so I guess it's not really much of an issue? Also wondering how you guys would compare this case to the cooler master centurion case, been checking out that one as well :o
There is a cut-out in the bottom of the case so the PSU can draw in cool air directly from outside the case and then vent it out the back. This means the PSU runs cooler increasing its life and might improve efficiency.
There are 2 up-to-140mm fan spots in the top of this case, so there should be no problem in heat escaping.

I don't think I've ever heard that, in fact many enthusiast cases have the PS at the bottom. Like Keno said, it should actually work better considering it will only take in cool air instead of hot air from the CPU, etc. Plus you can put a higher-efficiency 120mm fan or two on the top and get rid of the hot air inside your case more efficiently. Only down side I could see of the PS at the bottom is 1. if your cables aren't long enough to reach something, or 2. there is no fan filter and you end up with a bunch of gunk in your Power Supply

I was planning to buy the centurion originally... read a lot of reviews for it and ended up going to a CompUSA and taking a look at the case there. Honestly I was kind of disappointed. It's slightly bigger than it appears, but a lot of the construction comes off as cheap... mostly all the plastic parts. In addition, the toolless design is a real detriment to the case. That being said, it's still a sturdy, solid, and spacious case for it's price.
Once I saw the newegg deal posted here I ended up doing the same research for the 690. The toolless design on this case is far superior: The CD rack clamps work great. The HD cage is great if you have SATA drives (to install IDE drives you need to half insert the tray with the drive back in, plug in the cables, then push it in the rest of the way until it locks which makes installation a little bit more difficult). The card holder clips are OK but not great... they seem to be able to hold a card alright (it won't fall off) but leaves a little wiggle room you might want to just use a screw instead. The construction is nice but it does have a couple sharp edges, although they are mostly in ares your hands won't come into contact often.
Regarding the PSU location: it is true that having it at the top allows it to act as an exhaust for hot air, which helps the air flow. The 690 allows you to place 1-2 120/140mm fans at the top of the case though, which act as a better exhaust than a PSU would. However, the main benefit for having it at the bottom is that the PSU is allowed to intake cool air instead of the hot air coming from the CPU hs, potentially allowing it to perform better and extending it's life span. The only real worry you need to have about this is weather your cables will reach everywhere they need to. The 690 gallery can help give you an idea.
Anyway, I hope that helps. I personally <3 my 690 already :)

At this rate, I wonder when they're going to be giving these things away for free. Again, like someone said earlier, it's not like this case is bad or anything, and they're flying off the shelves from the number of people who've bought one. So why are they having deeper and deeper discounts on this thing?
I'm starting to regret my 49.99 Nine Hundred purchase even more than I already am.:p

Just finished a build with this case and it is awesome. Tons of cooling options, very well constructed and I love the ports being located at the top of the case.
Not sure why the massive discounts as this case is easily worth $100+.

Price went up to $76.99 out the door and then the $30 MIR to make it $46.99. Deal is dead.
I've seen ZZF do this a lot. Offer an item at an absurdly low price for a short time to get the word out on the deal forums and then quickly increase the price to catch the unwary who may just read the deal msg title e.g. A modern form of the old "bait and switch".

That's a nice looking build. I got two comments:
1. Check out the newegg open box cpu coolers (as mentioned elsewhere in this forum) and you can get yourself an Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 for under $20 delivered. Very decent results and easy to use. Tough to beat at the price.
2. Next, well, I'm just gonna give you mental mod-cancer (g) Wouldn't that build look just a little better with the mb aux 12v cable running UNDER the mb? Sure, you didn't think of it when you installed. But, it's sitting there. Running right accross the mb. damn. Well, never mind. Just don't think about it...

1) i've lapped my cpu (made a huge diff btw) and at 3.0ghz it idles ~33c and loads ~52c. I am more than happy at 3.0ghz, my mb fsb walls around 3.25ghz anyways, i will not benefit from a better cpu cooler on this setup.
2) I need an extension for the 4 pin 12v cable as it was just not long enough to reach under the motherboard and through the top like i did the other cables. Its not like the power cable is uninsulated, don't worry so much about it.

ZZF Sux! their shipping is garbage, I've been spoiled by the egg! 1 day from NJ.... instead of 5 days with ZZF.
I got mine yesterday, I was impressed with it very much so that I am considering buying 2 more and transplanting 2 of my other systems into them.
It's huge for a mid tower tho, wow.

Yes yes I know the "damned" 12 volt cable I noticed I had forgotten it after i got everything else wired. but o well its a server.
I have to finish up today and add the other hard drives, but I will post pics of the finished system in the 690 thread once I get it all setup.

Someone from CoolerMaster said that if you plug in the cables before locking in the HD tray it should work fine. I haven't managed to test that yet, but apparently you're supposed to insert the drive most of the way, plug in both cables, then push it in the rest. Not very practical but whatever. Another option is to file/cut/bend the outer edges to allow the cables to be installed normally. It's really not that big a deal.

Tried plugging it in before locking it in and that didn't work so I bent the side that was conflicting with the drive..nothing major and yes my drive was a Western Digital. other than that its a great case.

So I recieved my case today. Very nice btw, but I am a little confused. All I got was the bare cm 690 box. I did not get an invoice/packing slip or anything else. What do I send in for the rebate as my receipt? Will printing out my order be enough to satisfy the rebate hounds? They seem very picky most of the time.
