lol, maybe if my hand was shapped like a bear's paw...
Actually this is one of the more comfortable mice on the market and I have big hands.

lol at the bear paw.
this shape is actually very similar to logitech's old school three button (no wheel) mouse.. which was very comfy for me personally and I don't have huge hands.. at any rate, I haven't tried one of these G9s yet, but I hear it's more comfy than it looks.

I have it too, I got it from Buy.com a month or two ago for like $79.99 minus the $10 google checkout, so this is a very nice price. I personally love it, it's great for gaming and for my productivity work, Photoshop and such. I find both grips very comfy, although I use more fingers than palm, and my hands aren't that big. I prefer the smaller rough grip for gaming, it's great.

I have the 1000, G7, and now I'm going to try this. I wanted something for the new system. Yes, it does not have that stylish egg shape that everyone seems to know. God I remember when the (Japanese) egg shape took over for cars. I didn't like it. So this shape is OK with me. I always did have an appreciation for the muscle cars from the 70's. Maybe I'm reading too much into it?
The 1000 was awesome. Long rechargeable battery life, and very responsive. Probably the greatest gaming mouse evahhh! For those of you who played Doom 3 with me, then you know why you lost (Insert crazed laughter).
The G7 batteries used to die after heavy gaming, and then you had to scramble with the new clip, commando style. For those that don't know what I'm talking about, the G7 had 2 batteries that you loaded from the bottom of the mouse. Similar to the way you would load a clip into a hand gun. So in mid game when your mouse STOPPED(WTF?)...Ahhh!" working, you had this sinking feeling that you were about to be shot in the ass. After "reload" you had to look around in disbelief, as the first battery lay on the floor...somewhere. Exaggerated but I find it kinda funny. The batteries are pretty good but after time the life isn't so great.
The G9 reminds me of the 80's Countach. Very boxy. Mostly, I want my cord back. This one comes with different weights from what I've read. Not really what I want but I trust Logitech mice. Now the looks are definitely something that either you like or hate from the responses here and on Fat Wallet.
Thanks OP.

I'd like to try the G9, but I love my G7 and I'm not sure I'm ready to go back to a wire. I do miss the extra thumb button though.

@8lack8rain: Great thing about the weights is you can choose to use them or not ;) I personally have 4 of the 7g weights in, I like a heavy mouse I guess :D

Hmm. I'll give it a chance. The 1000 was actually kind of heavy, so maybe this is good. It will be a new experience.

So true, I get about 3 hours with a full charge of FP shooter, but after the fist 200 battery changes you have got to learn the quick change method. Seriously if you push the buttons ever so gently the batteries won't fall back in, and with some reflexes and a strategy it can be done in 5 seconds if not less!
Back to the mouse I've heard that it is too small for long term use, but I haven't tried it myself yet :(

Too small for long term use? I don't get it.... Do your hands get bigger?

Totally different feel than the G5/G7. While the G5/G7 seems a little more comfortable to me for everyday use. I find the grip on the G9 to be better for gaming. It's not a bad mouse, it's just different. To be honest, my favorite logitech mouse for everyday use is the VX Revolution so you can get an idea of the size of my hands (pretty small).

I use and love the G3 - I think this would be fairly similar in feel. Might have to do this.

the mouse reminds me of a bigger version of the mx310 which i freakin loved until i got my g7. Was really iffy on the whole wireless mouse scene, but the sexy carbon fiber finish had me set on the g7. If the g9 had a carbon fiber skin in on that thing i would be all over it right now, but i'm kind of a on a budget and a 70 dollar mouse can't be justified at the moment. At least i got 3 hot swapable batteries from my rma :P

I had the same reservations as pretty much everyone had regarding the 'odd' shape of the g9.
The way it looks seems like it'd be really uncomfortable but as someone mentioned it's VERY comfortable.
I had a g5 and g7 and it was only a matter of time since I move up again to a g9 and it's well worth the price. It actually looks much better in person and fits my hand pretty well. I don't have the biggest hands but I wouldn't say they're small and the default grip works just fine. Definatly a little funky at 1st but like everything else once you get used to it you can't go back to a previous mouse.

I just got it a few days ago and like it. The funny part is besides the two interchangable grips it comes with you can use it with no grips at all, basically turning it into a laptop sized mouse. I've found that this makes it really easy to move around fast like you would need to in a game like UT3.

Nice deal, but IMO, the G7 @ $30 (ClubIT) is a better deal. G7 is a wonderful mouse.
