Im thinking of getting this for my laptop and was wondering if it would actually be compatible. I ran a scan from crucial.com and says that my laptop was compatible with pc4200 and pc5300. anyone know if my laptop would be able to use it? i have an Acer Aspire 5570-2609.

Great deal. I jumped on this 2 days ago. It should be fine with your laptop. DDR2 right?

i guess the 32bit operating systems donot utilize 4GB of ram completely unless you map it. Has someone tried it before, I have a Vostro 1700, will I see any benefits if I jump from 2GB to 4GB?

Only the laptops using the santa rosa platform can support 4GB of RAM.
From what I could find out with a quick google search your laptop uses the 945 based chipset. The santa rosa notbooks use 965 based boards.
Even without the rebate 4GB for under 10 is a pretty good deal. I'm tempted to go to frys and pick up a set for my laptop.

Even when using a 64-bit operating system, the 4gb can seem to be minimal improvement from 2gb. Whats interesting is, after talking to Corsair on the phone, I got the impression that we don't need 8gb and that 4gb is already a lot. They said there wouldn't be much noticeable improvement since the operating system determines how much memory should be dedicated to certain programs/applications, video cards, etc...Anyway, I have 4gb but my system maxes out a little over 3gb when i'm using adobe applications as well as video production applications, and I can tell it gets sluggish. I understand it's because they're a lot memory-intensive applications I use. I wonder if 8gb would suffice? After talking to Corsair, it seems it's not necessary.

If you're not totally near maxing out at above 90%, it's not really necessary. But considering how cheap ddr2 memory has been, if you have the spare cash - might as well go for it. Doesn't do much hard, other than maybe lower your overclocking potential.

Not true. It really depends on how much of the 2gb you're currently utilizing at one point. If you see yourself constantly maxing out the 2gbs, then even the extra 1gb~1.5gb (depending on your system devices) will help out alot.
