Are you ever going to start stocking the Taiyo Yuden DVD+R discs? I would love to buy from you but you never seem to have them.

So....when are you going to post something that I might actually buy?

Like stuff to make a gaming box, I think most here don't build a multi-media box:confused:

I actually kind of agree I have maybe seen one "deal" that I wanted and bought via this thread.

Newegg Webmaster: Instead of posting random deals is it possible for you to take a weekly poll & then do a deal on the winning vote so that way people will actually be buying stuff thats posted. Just an idea

I've been waiting for a good deal on hard drives specifically on the Western Digital (AAKS) 500 or 750GB HDs of which I recently bought two 750s when the price dropped to 149 with free shipping. That was a good deal.

Anyway happy New Year to you.

Not for when $20 more you can get a HD DVD + Blu-ray combo drive.

You're right, but are you referring to the LG?? Just remember it's an LG... lol :P

o.k. they're not bad drives, but I've had better experience with Pioneer drives. Seem to last longer. Of the last few LG's I've used (or family members have used) the majority haven't made it past the year mark.... What brand of Combo drive are you referring to?

Yes.. the LG @ NCIX for $240.

I agree this would be a great strategy.

Maybe we can get some of them for 250+ free shipping? :D

Taiyo Yuden CD-Roms are great, but I agree that we would like to see the DVDR's on sale at Newegg, too!!

I also agree. Look how it worked for Amazon.

LG makes good stuff, much better than a lot of other brands out there. Pioneer is very good though as well, so you are making comparisons between some of the top brands ;)

Yes.. the LG @ NCIX for $240.

Let's be fair to the egg here, it's $290 on ncix now (except for one open box at 250) and they haven't been effectively available (ie. if you're not hovering on their site) for less than 279 from them. Now, all of this is scarcity based pricing and I do expect that newegg could offer us a much better price if they wanted to go ahead and buy some serious stock, but for now, no one is offering us $240

The retail boxed version was available on NCIX for quite a while at $240. You missed out, they are all sold out now. It was up for well over 12 hours. In the world of deals, if you don't act fast you miss out. People wanting deals have to be on top of things.

I guess that all depends upon the type of seller and the deal. With rare exceptions the really good prices on newegg come up and stay there for long enough for those of us who can't check every couple of hours. And when the deals do go down they restock and bring back similar prices. What ncix did was a one time hit to raise their brand awareness and they haven't touched on it since, now charging somewhat more than others do for the LG.

Either way, the point of the comments above was that the egg should get back to catering to the enthusiasts who made it what it is today (ie. building a brand that can actually compete with Amazon in many areas using a downright odd name like newegg did not happen without plenty of opinion leader enthusiasts telling folks - that's the place to shop.) As they've grown it's likely that the buying dept has lost some of it's tech guy orientation, and what is now probably a marketing department regards us as a niche. But the good will generated by, for example, making a purchase deal with LG and offering us 1000 drives a month at $229, is worth far, far more in customer base than all of their increasingly mainstream advertising. If the big guys wanted to grind newegg down on price they certainly have the resources to do so, it's the service/price/availability trifecta that keeps newegg in the game; lose any one of those and they won't be here in the long run.

What happened to posting a bunch of sale items? Pretty soon it's going to be Newegg deal. Not how I'd like to bring in the new year. ;)

I'll throw in another vote for the LG Blu-ray/HD-DVD combo drive. BestBuy had them for 225 after 25% off just last week. I'd be down for $250. Thanks! :D

It seems like 750GB and 1TB hard drives (SATA2) haven't budged in price over the past month or two. I still need a deal on those. If there's a deal worth pulling the trigger on, I'll buy 3 or 4.

I am also looking at the Corsair Survivor Ultra Rugged USB flash drives. I need a 4GB or 8GB. (non-GT version)

I'm also looking at the Promise SATA300 TX4. I need 2 of those.

Deals would be greatly appreciated. =)

Yeah, I was expecting more deals after the winter holidays as well, specifically on their Abit IP-35 Pro (which the price was actually jacked up $13 on from $179.00 free shipping) and an Evga 8800GT.

A deal on either or both of these would be greatly appreciated :) :).

Corsair Survivor Ultra Rugged 4GB Flash Drive is back in stock. $35 + $5 shipping. I pulled the trigger. Even though it is normal price, that is a pretty good deal IMO. 10yr warranty.

How about a deal on the LG GGC-H20L inernal Combo HD-DVD / BluRay reader, DVD+/-RW burner? Best Buy online had it on sale for about 2 weeks in December for $225.

I don't know if Newegg would be able to match that.

I'd like to purchase one of each or two 750gb, but prices seem to have gone up slightly. Also in the market for the Masscool PCI Card w/4 internal SATA. Don't wanna spend $4.99 in shipping though.

Newegg man, maybe setup a combo for any sata drive w/ sata hard drive?
