I ordered this Westinghouse 22" LCD online yesterday for $209.99 and total (after taxes) was $234.26. I picked it up at BestBuy & hooked it up today. No dead pixel at all. Brilliant color!
Go get it here (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?_dyncharset=ISO-8859-1&id=pcat17071&type=page&st=Westinghouse-22%22&sc=Global&cp=1&nrp=15&sp=&qp=&list=n&iht=y&usc=All+Categories&ks=960).
The shipping is est. $14.99 but YMMV.

Last Friday, huh? :(
But hey, I had a fat bonus from work. :D

Speaking of Black friday... Best Buy had an Envision (3 yr. warrantee vs. 1 yr. on westy) for $150 out the door on Black Friday. I wish I could turn back time too. Westinghouse is a tad better known name than envision, though. $200 isn't too bad for a 22" widescreen.

Lol, fair enough.
Coupla points:
-There was some hand-wringing pre-BF that the new w3 doesn't have the extra inputs of the w2 from a couple years back. Dealbreaker or not?
-I've seen a couple floating around CL from flippers, I think one even at $200. Might try there too even 2 months after BF.
So, decent deal on a 22", but it was even hotter at Target on BF. :/

it seems like the prices for 22" LCDs have been stuck above 200 for a while now. I kept hoping that the BF prices meant I'd occasionally see one below that, but no joy so far. Turns out I knew a guy who camped out for BF and could have gotten me one of the Envisions, but he didn't decide to do that until the last minute.

I was looking at this too. Any of those coupons floating around for $20 off in store purchases that are still valid?
Got $105 in gift cards there to use :) and I can sell my 19" Westy for a few bucks so almost a free upgrade!

no kidding. Why do people keep bringing up black friday deals as if they are relevant on any other day? Plus, some people would consider the hassle you go through to even get those deals negates the savings.

I wish I could stand WS gaming @ 60Hz. I've had 3 20" monitors now had to get rid of them, gaming gave me a headache within a few mins. Sticking with NEC 19" LCD 1280x1024 @ 75Hz. Just cant do 60Hz.

Are you saying the Westy can't do 75Hz or that it can only do 60Hz in certain resolutions? That would really give me a headache too.

I have tested these at work.
in fact I have one at my desk now, next to a 22" LG widescreen
The westys pic is pretty crisp, but I cannot attain a decient greyscale with it. I have several backgrounds I use for purposes of testing out greyscale properties...and the westy just cant match the LG for subtle changes.
Dont get me wrong sub $200 for a 22" is awsome. however dont try and use it in a dual head setup with a lg or any other moniter with better contrast...youll see the problems I described.

Anyone know if it can do 75Hz at any resolutions? I looked on their site but can't seem to find the supported resolution matrix many monitor manufacturers used to make.

at the native res i can only pick 59 and 60hz, but at 1400x900 u can do 75hz but i dont see the reason you would as it looks like crap.

I will agree with this. I too have odd gray colors when using this monitor. Actually, using this forum is a great example. I swear this forum looks different on every monitor I use lol. Also, after having the monitor for not even a month, it seemed to have lost its brightness or something. I exchanged one for a new one and the difference jumped out at me. Of course I didn't have the old one still to do a side by side (wish I could have) so take it for what it's worth.

It shouldn't give you a headache like low refresh rates on CRT monitors would. Because the display isn't actually redrawing itself 60 times a second like CRTs. Refresh rate on LCDs now only mean how often it polls the video cards in order to know if it needs to change the value of the pixels.
At least that is my understanding.

My wife bought me the envirsion one back in August, and for the most part I love it. The only part I don't like is how bright the blue LED is. I had to cover it up with a small piece of electrical tape.

Correct.
60hz on LCD screens are different from CRTs.

Refresh rates on LCDs don't flicker like CRTs do, though I'm mainly posting to say people who think the world revolves around black friday need to stay out of the hot deal section until next november. If you want to go to Best Buy at 3am, stand in line for 2 hours with 300 people to MAYBE get one of the 5 monitors they have for $150, that's fine, go do it. For the rest of us, we'll pay the extra little bit, sit on our duffers and watch tracking numbers while eating pizza.

Thank you for the info on refresh rates, think I will try to set mine down to 60Hz and see if it bugs me. Doesn't sound like it will though.
