I'm not sure about the networking abilities of this, but less than $300 for a single TB drive of any kind seems like a pretty amazing deal.

It's actually 2 500GB drives spanned in a RAID 0. Can also be configured for a 500GB RAID 1. Was looking at the reviews and found that same device cheaper.. shipped.

189.99 (http://www.♥♥♥♥♥♥♥/JRProductPage.process?Product_Code=WD+WDG1NC5000N&JRSource=zdnet.datafeed.WD+WDG1NC5000N)

I think this is only a single 500GB drive (WDG1NC5000N)

The OP posted WDG1NC10000N which is two 500GB drives

Actually I think that is a single 1TB drive. the enclosures that have 2 500GB or other pairs of drives are usually fatter like this:

http://www.buy.com/prod/western-digital-my-book-premium-edition-ii-1tb-7200-rpm-triple/q/loc/101/204211850.html

Correct me if I am wrong but that has always been my assumption.

Bah.. looks like you are right.. there are no RAID configurations in the specs for this unit and it does look too thin to house 2 drives. That's 2 corrections for me in the same post. I better quit while I am ahead. :D

Not a thread crap, but maybe useful information for anyone thinking of using this as NAS: the cnet review of this device indicates a network thoroughput is more along the lines of 20 mbit than 1 gbit (5GB read/write in 30 minutes). For a terabyte of network storage at this price point, that is perfectly normal, but the real world speed is something everyone should keep in mind.
