The well reviewed HC4900 from Mitsubishi (http://www.projectorcentral.com/Mitsubishi-HC4900.htm) is now down to 1500 after 500$ MIR from Mits themselves.

Store: Projector People: I've ordered from them in the past and like them. (http://www.projectorpeople.com/projectors/projdtls.asp?itemid=23232&itmname=Mitsubishi+HC4900)
Second option @ 2000: Projector USA: Never dealt with them, but decent reseller ratings. (http://projectorusa.com/cart/products.aspx?pid=5793)

PDF link of rebate: Good until 1/31/2008 (http://www.projectorpeople.com/SLIS/downloads/rebates/Mitsubishi/MITHC4900_500_013108.pdf)

1500 for a 1080p projector is just crazy. Crazy all around. So I figured I'd mention it.

Very good price, and it looks pretty good from most of the reviews I've seen.

Maybe i haven't kept up with prices but someone correct me if i'm wrong, it looks like native 1080P projectors have finally hit a new low price level. And a mitusbishi to boot...

Aye, this is a new low. They were all priced at 2500, and with the 500 dollar rebate dropped to "omg under 2k". Then stores started listing them at 2000 BEFORE the rebate, and, well, now we're sitting at 1500.

Yeah, that's around the price of a TV, so it's awesome. I remember seeing projectors for well over 2000 bucks not long ago and they were barely around 720p.

I remember seeing projectors for well over 2000 bucks not long ago and they were barely around 720p.720P prices have been below $2000 for a while now, a few years as a matter of fact, got my 720P for $775 a coupla years ago.

Can't wait till 1080P drops below $1000, that's when i'll start looking for an upgrade.

Now this is a very nice deal!

I wish this projector had the lumen output of the 720P units by mitsubishi. Until it can push the lumens up to around 1500 I will have to pass. I do like to stay in Low mode, but I want low to be around 800 lumens. With this I bet its closer to 500 or 600.

523.6 to 690 moving from telephoto to wide angle.

Also of note, replacement lamp = $459.

high replacement lamp cost...

low lumens...

poor grey levels being reported on AVSforums...

no 24p

Great buy if you aren't a videophile... heck you probably won't even notice the flaws.

The low lumens kills this for me as well.

It's high time they come out with a new lamp technology or something... 500 LEDs, a freakin' laser beam.... SOMETHING. But nooooo... they enjoy ass raping us by charging $500 for a bulb that probably costs a buck fifty to manufacture.

Looking at the ProjectorUSA link...

The $2500 is listed as "Manufacturer's Minimum Advertised Price:"

Also note: "Because of manufacturer rules, we are not allowed to show our current price for this item. Please click 'Add to Cart' above. If you don't want the item, you can easily remove it from the cart."

If you click Add to Cart, you'll see the price show as $1,909.00

Same thing seems to be going on with the projectorcentral link as well... if you add it to your cart it shows as $1,999.00 there.
