Nice price after MIR, and they allow up to 5 per user/household etc.

The rebate states its also valid in Canada, however that link you listed does not ship to Canada.

Wonder if there is another site that sells these and does ship to Canada?

Update: Found some canadian sites that sell these, however cheapest was like $80 which makes this deal awful for Canadians :(

I bought four of these and just wanted to let you guys know about them a little:

First, when you look on the box near the barcodes, it says "CRUCIAL TECH" on there. So this is probably Crucial ram, but just re-named for HP and sold under their name. Another reason I think this is Crucial ram is the IC. I bought a cheap 1GB stick of generic Crucial ram a couple months back, and it was Micron D9HNL. These have the same ICs, D9HNL.

Also, the rebates supposedly are extremely fast. Some people only have to wait as little as 3 weeks. The usual time from sending everything out to receiving check is around 3-4 weeks.

This is a fantastic deal. My only gripe is the warranty is only 1 year, but for $3, it's hardly something to complain about :)

no. any ddr2-667 board will run it.

mine's at 720 still on 1.8v, even though d9hnl's micron budget chips.

i paid $10 per stick, and i thought that was cheap. oh well. i'll get some more when it's free (according to slickdeals, a vendor is offering it for free after rebates, but quite a few people dont trust them)

That's correct. And you don't need to include the originals. Photocopies are perfectly acceptable for this rebate offer. When you get each stick, there's a sticker on the front with a bunch of different barcodes. Just take a photocopy of each set of barcodes for each stick you buy, and you should be all set.

And since none of the sites that sell this ram seem to list specs:

1.8V, 5-5-5-15

Also, this is single-sided memory. Not sure how important this is, but I thought I should mention it.

Ok some one mentioned they are single sided. So does it work with Double sided memory sticks,

hmm ive never thought of that before. ive always just bought ram all at once, so it's always been all the same stuff.

i dont see why they wouldnt work though, the placement of the memory chips shouldnt effect the function....if im missing something here please tell me because i ordered 2 sticks of this stuff to go in a system with 2gb of double sided ddr2-667.

edit: after a quick google of the subject, i found out they will work together in a system.....but im still looking to see how it effects dual-channel functionality....if anyone knows the answer save me some time, and let me know haha.

edit2:...................i should have just used wikipedia in the first place...........

"two or more DDR/DDR2 SDRAM memory modules must be installed into matching banks, which are usually color coded on the motherboard. These separate channels allow each memory module access to the memory controller, increasing throughput bandwidth. It is not required that identical modules be used, but this is often recommended for best compatibility for dual channel operation. It is possible to use a single-sided module of 512 MiB and a double-sided module of 512 MiB in dual-channel configuration, but how fast and stable it is depends on the memory controller.

Insomniac3438
01-22-2008, 09:24 PM
Ok some one mentioned they are single sided. So does it work with Double sided memory sticks,

In my system I have a DFI Infinity P965-S. All four ram slots filled with the following types of ram:

- 1GB stick of generic Corsair ram - DDR2-667 - Double sided
- 1GB stick of generic Crucial ram - DDR2-667 - Single sided
- 2 x 1GB of the generic HP ram that is on sale - DDR2-667 - Single sided

Not overclocking at all. Running at DDR2-667 with 5-5-5-15 timings at 1.8V, and no problems whatsoever. They're all running in dual channel as well:

http://img297.imageshack.us/img297/8825/69837530dr5.jpg

I'm thinking of taking out the Corsair and Crucial sticks and using my other two HP sticks, just so they're all identical should I want to overclock them in the future. But currently, no issues of any kind with how it's set up.

They only seem to be cheap because they're under the HP name. That, and they probably have way too many and are trying to unload them. That's honestly the only reason I can see as to why the price is so low after rebate.

As for the quality, they look great. As I said earlier, on the box for each stick of ram are the words "CRUCIAL TECH". Leads me to believe this is just Crucial ram rebranded as HP. Also, the ICs are D9HNL. I would say at least 800 Mhz is achievable, probably higher.

Here's some testing done with Micron D9HNL chips. These sticks look like the exact same thing I got:

what's the voltage on these memory? my intel board can only handle 1.8v.

They're 1.8V, 5-5-5-15 timings.

As for the rebate, here's what I did, which seems to be what most people are doing:

- For all the sticks you buy, use one rebate form.

- There's a spot on one of the sheets for the rebate that asks for the serial number. I don't think this is necessary to fill out, but some people have put down the S/C number located on the stick of ram and got their rebates just fine.

- Each box that contains the individual stick of ram has a sticker on it. That sticker has a bunch of barcodes. Photocopy that set of barcodes for each separate stick of ram you buy and send it in. Also, for me at least, there was a small sticker on the side of the box with a single barcodes. I photocopied that as well. I was able to fit all of the necessary barcodes onto 3 sheets of paper. Chances are, you'll need an extra stamp when sending in all the forms/photocopies due to the weight of the envelope.

- And the rebates are extremely fast. 3-4 weeks for most from the time you send it out to the time you receive a check.

Is anyone else having any problems with their secure checkout? I don't know if the Serial number is the S/C#, but that's what people are doing and it's working without a hitch. And everything goes in one envelope. One rebate form for all the sticks you got, including photocopies of ALL barcodes you see on the outside of the boxes. Not sure if they're all needed, but better safe than sorry.

I'd also be sure to add a second stamp because of weight issues.

blairellis

Took mine to the post office and the lady said it only required a 41 cent stamp because I was under weight on mine. I put all the info they needed in one envelope too. 2 pages of photocopies of the barcodes, 2 pages from the rebate form, original invoice and it came out to the standard 41 cents. I would take it to the post office to have them weigh it if you are not sure.

I ordered 4 but don't even have a DDR2 compatible mobo to put it in.

Planning on a new gaming build this summer but was planning on going DDR3. Is DDR2<<DDR3? Can't imagine availability will be an issue in 1-2 years but will performance be?

/Read that DDR3 mobos are compatible with DDR2 so not even an issue now.

Don;t expect DDR3 to be that cheap in the next year or so. I am sticking with DDR2 as long as i can. :D

You can buy a couple mb's that run either ddr2 OR ddr3 but it's not like a mb using ddr3 is inherently backwards compatible with ddr2.

This is a really good deal on 667 memory. But we should probably remember this is memory designed for a 533 MHz system bus. Even if you can overclock it to 800, 1333 is still pretty far over the horizon for this ram.

I tried two that I got. Paired with my Ballistix, they wouldn't post over 800MHz at 5-6-5-18 at 2.0v. Didn't try any higher. I bought 2 more gig for my brother's system, so I might try those to see how those clock.

Maybe I got really lucky.

In my opinion, they're "just as good as" the G.Skill "HZ" series RAM I use in the signature. They're D9GMH and these are D9HNL I believe.

Extraordinary results. Especially with 4x1. AFAIK, only PQI used thewse as 800's. Go immediately, as in RIGHT NOW, to the track. Bet everything you have on whatever strikes you as a winner...

Nope, it's dead. They raised the price before rebate to $33.

Thing is, this deal has come and gone for months now, so don't be too surprised if you see it drop back down to around $3 after rebate. Just keep an eye on it and it should go back down eventually.

Well, ram incompatibility is a black art and a common problem. You have to grant it shows up on AMD mbs more than you'd like. I think you said you'd flashed up to the current bios. That's step 1.

Be handy to try other 1 or 2 g sticks that are known good. Also worthwile to remove any other ram and try one stick in slot 1 of bank 0 and in slot 1 of bank 1. Also worthwile to check for bios options and REDUCE the fsb from 133 (quad pumped 533) to 100 (aka quad pumped 400), if possible

Next, I'd check the manual or best .pdf for any tips: Are ANY single slot 1 gig ok? Are ONLY single bank (dual slot) 1 gig sticks approved? If the first is no and the second yes, (GASP) may be time to call the mb tech support or ram (in this case, HP, sorry) support to look for help. I didn't catch the mb brand and model, but there may be forum support for it.

I don't know how old the mb is, but remember how slow AMD was to get on to ddr2 and if it's an early release of initial support this could just be a hard incompatibility. The odds favor a configuration problem as opposed to a defect.

RAM problems show up on Intel boards.

Remember everyone going OMG E6300 + massive 1066MHz RAM + Intel i965 = OVERCLOCK

And everyone built their machines and the SPD on their RAM was set at some astronomical value and the board was like "I'm not booting until you put some JEDEC in me and then we'll try this again once YOU bump MY voltage."

Here is what ECS says your board can use...that is probably your problem.

Single-channel DDR memory architecture
2 x 184-pin DDR DIMM socket support up to 2 GB
2 x 240-pin DDR DIMM socket support up to 2 GB
Support DDR400/333 DDR SDRAM or DDR2 533/400 DDR2 SDRAM

Here is the link in case you can't find it. If this wasn't your board, I appologize.

http://www.ecsusa.com/ECSWebSite/Products/ProductsDetail.aspx?detailid=673&DetailName=Specification&MenuID=44&LanID=9

Typically memory will try to slow itself down if it has to due to mixed speeds of chips or older boards that don't support the faster clock speed, but I have indeed ran into many boards where it had to be the exact speeds the board stated in the specs sheet.
