I know ECS is a pretty crappy brand, but the price is hard to ignore, $226.32 AR. It comes overclocked at 680 Mhz, the ramsinks are pre-applied, and of course it comes with an S1 and turbo modules ($33-38).

anyone know what the warranty details are on this? not listed in the specs.

also, has anyone ever dealt with an ECS warranty? i've experienced a good amount of capacitor plague with their motherboards in the past... but they were always so cheap i considered them disposable..... i hope that wouldn't be the case any longer, especially on a 200+ dollar card.

I believe ECS is local to me. Not a bad deal on this one... Curious about warranty as well.

bought one yesterday, apparently my paypal funds dont cover it (even though i have enough in my other account) so it got canceled. doh! sign for me to hold off? dunno. it's either this or a 3870 ($224 shipped (http://promotions.newegg.com/NEemail/Feb-0-2008/Promo020508in/index-landing.html?nm_mc=EMC-IGNEFL020508&cm_mmc=EMC-IGNEFL020508-_-email-_-top-_-Moredeals)ain't bad at all). all other cards seem too expensive at the moment (that's if i get the rebate from ecs). hmmm... deal /w $50 mir? or just go /w a single slot cooling solution 3870? doh! decisions decisions.

I don't think I could buy an ECS video card.
I walked into Microcenter Saturday and came out with an EVGA 8800GT 512 for $219
I would have gotten the Superclocked 650mhz version but they were sold out.

Arctic Cooling sells an elongated sli bridge to accomodate the width of the heatsink.

I've been using ECS for about 1 1/2. Pretty solid.

I have an ECS dual socket 370 board loaded with dual PIII-1000's still in service. Going on almost 8 years now. I'd be fine with one of their video cards.

Especially with this HSF and at this price.

I loved my ecs sli board for the few months it worked before it went kabloo-eee for absolutely no reason that I can imagine other than maybe cheap capacitors? BUT, the ECS support was quick to rma, so.... thats got to count for something.

Seems like terrible engineering that they have to sell a new SLI bridge because they blocked off the connector with the Darth Vader of GPU heatsinks.

it comes stock with one of the best performing aftermarket heatsinks out there. it's not of ecs design. arctic cooling makes it, and it works very well. it's comparable to the thermalright gpu heatsinks that cost twice as much.

Yeah, but the Dark Side is so much cooler!
haha! punned!

dammed thing might be ugly as hell, but it's pretty much the best bang for your buck.

plus:
3 year labor/2year parts warranty (yah, not lifetime, but eh better than some)
comes stock overclocked (650/1900/1625)
includes one of the best aftermarket coolers $20 Accelero S1 + $10 turbo module (no need to void warranty for another cooler)
great price for package (beat only by the galaxy on ncix)
it's a frikkin 8800gt

cons:
ugly, in some people's eyes
dude it's an ECS
not lifetime warranty (not like i'll keep it for more than a year anyhow)
non existant software bundle (i'd rather have a nice aftermarket cooler than a game that the company chooses for me though)

i don't trust factory-installed heatsinks.

if anything i would probably re-apply the heatsink if I were to buy one

but i bought a galaxy 8800GT a month ago so i must let this one pass.

wth. $10 coupon (http://promotions.newegg.com/NEemail/Feb-0-2008/Promo020708in/index-landing.html?nm_mc=EMC-IGNEFL020708&cm_mmc=EMC-IGNEFL020708-_-email-_-E0D-_-Moredeals)just added today. EMCACAHAF
bastages!

makes it $209 after mir + shipping a little hotter than before

uhh price also dropped $10 to $259.99. just called and maria gave me a credit of $10. i call again later to see if i can apply the coupon code from today.

so if someone orders today they will actually get one for 259.99 - 10 coupon - 50 mir = $199.99 + shipping hot enough for you guys?

Ahhh damn, I was going to go with the NCIX and now this one is even hotter because of the heatsink (according to the reviews and some of you), now I only have 1 question... how good is the Rebate from these people?

I'd do it if I was in the market for an 8800GT + AC S1 + S1 TM. Heck, even if you don't ever get the rebate, it's still a pretty good deal for all that you get imo.

OOS! did anyone else order same time i did for $269.99? it was $259.99 yesterday and they pm'd me by giving me a $10 credit to my card. i called them today about the $10 coupon and since it had shipped already they gave me a $10 store credit for my next purchase. not money in the bank, but good enough for me. :D
