This is the lowest price yet for this motherboard.
For those who don't know, this is an incredible overclocker for both Core2Duos and Quads and with a newly released beta bios (DFI club) has overclocked an E8400 to 4.2ghz.

I doubt it. I have been checking for the last couple of months and neweggs price is currently at its lowest point. :)

nvm, you're right, I thought it was $69.99 plus ship from newegg when I checked to see how much I should sell my Dark for.
Anyways, ran a Q6600 @ 3.6ghz on this baby for a couple months rock solid.

anybody using this board with 45nm E8400?
There's a thread at the DFI Club forums where a guy used an E8500 to hit 4.27 Ghz on air cooling:

The board does allow for half multipliers. However, the Wolfdale CPUs will not boot unless you have the board already flashed with the beta BIOS that supports them.

FYI, according to the site, this is only a 4-day deal ending on February 10.

there is also another DFI board on a three day special:

it is the infinity x975. Not bad for the price. It is over $20 cheaper than newegg.

Care to suggest which one world be a better deal?

well, honestly, I would personally prefer the 965 board, since it can be updated with a beta bios to use 45nm CPUs. More future upgrade capability. :)

I noticed also that the P965-S uses the Intel ICH8R while the 975X uses the ICH7R

that is correct. the p965 has onboard raid. :)

why not buy a p35 mobo though? are the 965s just as good for the new 45nm core2s??
Alpha&Omega

well this board is good for the 45nm with a bios update (But you need a 65nm CPU to do the upgrade).
as for why not a p35, well you can't find a p35 that is as feature filled as this p965 is for the price. and with the bios upgrade current 65nm core2 owners will be able to upgrade to 45nm.
and this mobo can easily reach 500FSB.
for the price it is tough to beat. :)

Where can you find that beta bios? I've looked on the DFI website and it shows a bios released in september. is that it?

12/11 Beta BIOS, the most recent as of today (http://us.dfi.com.tw/Support/Download/bios_download_us.jsp?PRODUCT_ID=5276&STATUS_FLAG=B&SITE=US
)
It seems to be loading slowly for me as of this post, but this is the correct link. Just give it some time.

Missed the deal... I'm sure it'll come back around. Maybe cheaper next time.
