do some searches on 9x series performance. Looks to be 30% faster with no new feature set.

but the 9600GT will be about 10% slower than the 8800GT, and the 9600GT will cost about $180, so you've got no reason to sell off your 8800GT quite yet.

The 9x series from nvidia is just faster, no new shaders or advancements from what I'v read.

the new heatsink isnt really an improvement for temps. it just isnt as loud. i had 2 evga cards, 1 old and 1 new. hs sucked on both, i installed zalman vf900s on each. way quieter and way cooler.

Over at Bjorn3D there was a post reporting temps of 44C while gaming in COD4 with an XFX 8800GT:

The EVGA is cheaper at Buy.com. 234.99 (there's also a 5% coupon....go back and find the thread...it's only a few days back). I got mine roughly 2 business days after ordering it...it shipped from Memphis, so fedex isn't more than 3 business days from virtually everyone in the country (and I suspect they ahve other places they ship from).

With that said, Buy.com has less than great CS. They won't rip you off, but their Customer service is a shadow of what it was the last time I dealt with CS (10 years ago).
