and a

Anyone have any other recommendations or suggestions of either these two or some other brand they recommend?? (I am trying to stay at or below $1K but I can go a little higher for something nicer.

I got my Sharp 42D64U for $1200 back in October. It has since gone on sale a few times since then, just keep an eye out here or at slickdeals.

Don't go with a cheap brand just to save a few bucks, spend an extra $200-$300 and get something you will be happy with for many years.

Good advice... slickdeals + willingness to get a better quality set = win :). For instance, a recent deal was: http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?sduid=127188&t=741945 Just be patient.

If you want a bigger name brand, just recently, there was a Hot Deal for LG selling a 42" 1080p LCD for just under $1k. Westinghouse also frequently has good sales for under $900, I believe. Good luck!
