This is a re-branded Lian-Li all-aluminum case, with brushed dark finish and front door. I went in today to buy it for $119.99, thinking that was the deal of the century on a Lian-Li. They had put it on clearance for $71.99! I don't know how widespread this deal is, but there are 5 left at the Springfield, MO store.

I'll have to check if they can pricematch if they have it at my store. Got it for $120, hell of a case. I notice the side panels are ever so slightly off on mine, just a millimeter or so. Either way, I'm a happy camper. Going to toss the side panel at a laser cutter and see what I can do with it.

I just unboxed mine. This thing is like a work of industrial art. I've never had aluminum before, so the lightness of it still shocks me. The quality of workmanship, the brushed exterior... And the front door--it has a PERFECT latching system, like nothing I've ever seen. If you close it, it stays closed. If you want it to open, it responds to the lightest tug as if it knows what you were thinking. Holy cow!

Yeah, I went a little nuts last week trying to find an exact retail Lian-Li match and there wasn't one. Of course, a lot of the panels and cages, etc. appear to be movable/configurable, so I'm sure they had no trouble cobbling up one for BB's custom specs. The yellow and white BB inventory/tracking/etc. sticker on the box says Lian-Li right on it, for extra assurance. Plus the 120mm case fans are Lian-Li branded!

It was marked on the shelf with a yellow clearance price tag. Pre-printed, not the handwritten kind like they use for open box items.

Of course, you'll notice on the receipt that the cashier was able to apply the 12% off coupon that RewardZone sent me for this being my birthday month, and I'm not sure that would normally be possible or if she was just feeling kind that day. I almost feel dirty getting an aluminum Lian-Li tower for 63 bucks!

The Clearance price will vary per store and how many they sell... but I do know my store got more in and it went on clearance... and about every week it will drop in price... so keep an eye out. :)

I went to BB in Norridge, IL and found 2 on clearance for $97.88. The store manager said that each store decides their own clearance prices, they don't have to price match clearance items, and he refuses to go any lower.

He said if I wanted it for $72 I was more than welcome to go to MO(where thread reciept was from) and get one.

At this point I was running late, told him whatever and left it at his feet.

I'm still puzzled why BB is clearing these out. I guess they just don't move? But they're better than anything else they carry. About the only other one I'd take is the Sonata III because it comes with an Earthwatts 500 PSU (Seasonic-made), but that's even more than the Rocketfish, so if you don't need the PSU, no sale. Not that I'm complaining!

I hope they don't revamp PC architecture completely any time soon, because I want this case to be with me for a long, long, time.

On NewEgg, the cheapest Lian-Li case sells for $79.99 with $15.99 shipping. The cheapest full-tower Lian-Li case sells for $219.99 with $20.46 shipping. In both situations the shipping exceeds my local sales tax, so double win on that.

Picked up 6 for the clearance price. No problems whatsoever. Wish I got the 12% off like commander did! Then ultra hot deal it would have been.

WoW freakin HUGE boxes for these cases. I cannot believe how big the boxes were but the cases are no slouch either.

Total cost for 6 out the door was $464.83

Now I must find a use for them. Price seemed too good to pass up. Will use them for future builds if nothing else.

Are you saying that people tend to return working Cooler Master and Antec PSUs, while Thermaltakes are only returned when they're broken? :p

With that said, I've never had a psu go bad...not even the cheap POS ones that came with a case (though I'm currently using a OCZ Modstream 500).

I did have one that started to cause seemingly random reboots after 3 or 4 years....replaced the dead fan and all was well. Of course I don't use that Athlon XP much either, but it works:D

I had an OCZ PowerStream 520W go bad on me and most of the PSU that where return where the generic Antec PSU and Cooler Master ones. Thermaltaker has been nothing but peachy fine. There is one that I'm trying to remember that you should avoid like the plague, its one that ships with cases, but for the life I can not remember the brand, really bad (component killing bad).

I'm not seeing any fit and finish issues on mine, though coming from cheapo SECC cases, my expectations are lower. Plus, size wise, I'm just kinda groovin' on the whole Space Odyssey Monolith vibe...;)

It is a thin panel, but as I understand it that's not unusual for aluminum, and the only cases I've dealt with in the past that even had a door, it was cheap plastic junk that I ended up removing. This one is at least very well designed as far as looks and the latching mechanism, although I can't yet say how much abuse it can withstand.

There is a ton of headroom in this case and, according to the tape measure at least, there is enough room to probably mount a quad 120 radiator internally while only sacrificing a couple 5.25 bays (5.5" x 20.5" x 3"). It'd be snug, but it looks like it'd probably just barely fit.

Youre mistaken. It's quite a solid case. The front door is very heavy, and the case includes 3 dual ball bearing 120mm fans, which at 1500rpm tops and rubber vibration dampeners are super silent.

the butterfield rd Downers Grove store still has a case or two left. The price won't go down from $72. that should be the absolute lowest they will sell them for. although regionally, as said before, it will differ higher from the stated price.

if you absolutely have to have one and there are none near you in any other best buy store see if they can do a CF for you. Customer Fulfillment, is where they basically order one directly from the warehouse. Now of course this is assuming that a warehouse has it.

personally, if you want to play the game of buy at one store(for more money) then return and repurchase at a store that has the lower price, you could do that. not that you wouldn't get some strange looks.lol
also, if you do this, make sure you do this with a cash sale. or have extra money in the bank if you use debit card.

About 2 weeks later I go back in there same amount of cases. I go home talk to a BB rep for Customer Relations and he fills out a complaint against the store saying there is no reason they should not price match because it is a national clearance. Go in today mention that and walk out with the case for 77$ after tax. They would not let me use the 10% off because it is a clerance item but I might go in 7 days and try again :D So if you are interested just mention Customer Relations and u are golden. Ithaca NY has 12 Cases left FYI...

ummm, not that would be incorrect. the reason why there is a price difference is due to marketing and indirectly store size, in some instances.

All the same, my $67 Lian-Li makes me very happy! I had to perform some surgery on the power LED connector before it would fit my mobo's pins properly, but I love the blue-for-power, red-for-HDD-activity combination. Looks very dressy with the door closed and those two little pin-lights in the top right corner.

Would be nice to be armed with some proof that theses cases can be purchased at other BB stores for less than half that. That way when we go to our local BB we have a fighting chance.

Maybe his was an open box item or scratched or something. Not doubting his purchase price, just not seeing any proof that anyone can just walk into BB and buy these for that price. Maybe there's some secret coupon somewhere. But these cases are regularly $119.99. If you're lucky or savvy enough to negotiate, then you might get it at $71.99. But unless someone posts a way to get them for under $50, I'd say those were one time unique deals and don't get your hopes up.

My local store has them at 119.99 (had about 10 of them). But I asked some rather gay looking salesguy (who was the only one working in the computer department) to scan the price. It came up on-sale as 100.99. Then I showed him the picture of the receipt from Blazestorm that I had printed out before I left to head up there. He said he couldn't change the price to that, that he'd have to ask a manager. I asked if I could speak to the manager. He said sure let me find one for you. So we wandered around the store (this dude really had the gay swagger going on). The whole time I'm thinking to myself there's no way this is gona fly. After walking around the whole store he finally says "let me go in back and see if I can find a manager to help you."

Well, I wait for a few minutes and then here he comes with some young chick who had on a black BB shirt. I immediately knew there was not going to be any price adjustment. Sure enough, this 20-something looking chick says, that the receipt in that picture may be from some promotion at that BB store and we don't have to honor that price. I explained that BB stores all over the country were selling them at this price. She still refused. I asked what the store # is of this BB that I was going to contact Customer Relations. and she happily gave me the store number and with a grin said "good luck Sir."

Why, why do I always get all the biatches? I knew the second she walked up to me no freaking way was this little spinner gona help a middle-aged gent like me. I wanted to tell her to go stuff one of those cases up you know where, but I smiled and just walked away. Needless to say I didn't buy a damn thing from BB. Made my Saturday afternoon though, let me tell ya. Oh well.

It is roomy, just finished up installing everything in it. I'm amazed at my own ability to make things so roomy look cluttered. Anyways I'll snap some pics later on, because I want to change something with my X-Fi front inputs move them back a bit so I can keep my head phones plugged in and close the front door. I do have to say I tried it with the front door off, but it looked tacky and cheap so I put it back on.

of the 6 stores around here, 3 of them were discounted and of course no longer in stock (i know workers at these store, i can assure you the few they had went home with employees)

i went to 2 of them with the knowledge of which stores had them, which stores had them in stock and a copy of blazes receipt, i caused a pretty big stink but they still refused to give me the price.

Forget the price for just a moment, is this really the kind of case you were looking for before you found this thread?

I was kinda pissed at first when I was denied the price on blazes receipt. But I had already decided to go with a Lian Li A05-B (which is a lot smaller) before I seen this thread. But after seeing these for so cheap I thought I'd go for one. But honestly? I don't need no full-tower case. What was I thinking? :rolleyes:

So the bottom line is the only reason I was considering the RocketFish-big-freaking-full-tower, was because of the price. But in hindsight, kinda glad they're not onsale here, as I much prefer a smaller more conservative looking case. A case is one of the most important components. Why? Because you're going to be looking at it everyday. If you really WANT a full-tower case and think this RocketFish is attractive, then go for it. But don't get sucked into buying one JUST because it's cheap if that's not what you really want. Because then it's not cheap at all. It's actually wasted money on something you otherwise would've never bought in the first place.

Lastly, there's thread about this case in the "Cases & Case Modding" thread. Some people are not too happy about cable management in there and other issues have also come to light. Just thought I'd pass that along. Good luck with buying one of these if you really want one. For my build, I'm no longer interested in a RocketFish.

I bought the rocketfish because my V1000 was too small... w/ this I can fit (potentially) 23+ HDD's... I was limited to 14 in the V1000 and it was cramped. Since this is a server, the more room the better, I'll never be opening the door to get to an optical drive so again, perfect.

I agree it's not for your average computer, at the LAN I was on on saturday I actually stacked my a05 on top of the server, it was mainly there for file sharing so people could copy movies/music off it. Either way, it's huge and it is not meant for everyone.

I kinda figured, but I'm too tired to look for it. And yeah, I can see the issue. Those boxes were huge and somewhat heavy. I'd imagine between $25 and $50 (if not more) to ship them, depending on distance and shipping method. When I have some extra cash, I will go back and pick one up for myself. personal preference, if you looked at the cases currently in my house, i like huge cases with tons of room in them and plenty of workspace. I won't even touch mid towers anymore. So for me its worth it and its a case i want.

i mean so far in my house is an old gateway server case holding my server, an apevia x-juipiter, and a thermaltake armour. i have 2 mid towers, 1 that i am trying to replace with this case, because i don't have the room i would like to have to work in. And one holding a socket a barebone system that only gets turned on when i render.

I got a ton of odd looks walking out to the checkout hauling this thing, it was as if people didn't know you could buy the case with out the PC guts inside it. I picked one up in Omaha, NE. It was marked as 47.99 on the regular yellow tags. It did say in real tiny print on the tag that it was a clearance, but it easy to assume that this is the regular price. No special shelf tags or clearance stickers.

I would recommend getting a price check at your store, maybe the new tag never made it to the floor or someone removed it.

If you have other BB's around see if any of them have the $47.99 price, even if they are out of stock. Just ask a blue shirt to check the stock for other stores in RSS and stand there while they check.

If you find another one that has the $47.99 price just take your receipt there and ask for a price adjustment.

A majority of the time on BB deals like this I will purchase the item first and if I am unable to find a store with the cheaper price (in stock or not) I'll return it. But with 6 or 7 BB's in a 25mile radius does help.

I was up in Pasadena on Friday and stopped by Best Buy to kill some time and they had the cases for $71. Went back on 3/8 to Torrance store and they price matched the Pasadena store.

Well it says LianLi on the box... it was made in Taiwan... and... We just know :)
I've built 6 LianLis and all the parts are the same, feels, looks the same...

To add on to Blazestorms, if you were to order the case, and what it rings up on the register, it says Lian Li on the computer and in the invoice.

Also, the case fans are all Lian-Li branded.

Just picked one of these up. My local store still had them for $119 but they checked the surrounding stores (ask your BB employee to check in RSS) and a few had them in stock and marked down to ~$47. I grabbed one while running some errands tonight..... now I just need to buy some goodies to fill it with.

I walked in and asked about them and the said they sold out that morning, sold the last 2 for $67.99. I asked him to check and when we walked back to his computer station, I looked up and saw 3 on the top shelf above their monitors. I asked him if those were for sale and he ran it to check the price. Found them on sale at the Aiea store in Hawaii and picked up the last one, $47.99 plus 10% off so $43 plus tax. Going in either tonight or this weekend to the Iwilei store to try and get a price match on the first case I bought, if they give me a hard time, I might just return that case.

Looks like I got the last one in Dover DE.

Last week of February they were listed at $219, first week of March at $119, three of the beasts sitting there with warehouse dust on 'em.

Went in to pick up "Ark of Truth" this week, wandered back to the computer area and saw there was one case left (banded and unopened yet!), and the price had dropped yet again to $77.

Done waiting. :)

Agree with Galdoes16, this thing is HUGE. I have older "full tower" ATX cases, and this monolith shades 'em all. It'll be quite nice to NOT have to put drive cables in with a prybar and "pulling goop", but I'm sad that this beggar will need it's own zip code. :D

Went back to the Aiea store to price match my case, didn't ring up the extra 10% I got off the last time, but it's only $4 so I didn't want to make a big deal about it, especially not when I'm saving an additional $25. :p I also went in to the Honolulu store today to pick up an HD dvd player and saw that they had finally marked the case down to $71.99 there. It's not as cheap as $47.99 but it's cheaper than the $119.99 they had it marked as the other week and there's only one left so if anyone on Oahu wants it, I'd pick it up anyway.

Well, NewShockerGuy I'm working on that pickle right now. I was able to get one at this great deal in Greenwood, Indiana. I then wanted to get a nice Lian-Li made door with a Window in it. I'm working with Performance-PCS to find the right ones. Then I'll post the link here when we figure it out.

was able to get it for 43.99 @ Ithaca, NY Best Buy with no problems. Less then $47 with tax. I used the 10% off cupon :) They gave me a hard time when i first got the case didn't want to price match but a week later they did but didnt let me use the 10% of cupon since its clerance item. Went back after 2 days ( recieve does not say clerance ) and they gave me the 10% off. Went in later when I found about the 47.99 deal they said nope. Waited a week and they said yes even with the 10% off cupon :)

Yeah, I was kinda wanting to avoid spending to much on a window. So far I have bought wheels and handles total $32 so far extra. So I'm going for cheap. I know one of those case doors has to work. I just cannot see Lian-Li no going for some common stock of thier own cases. After the door with a Window comes me getting the hole drill bit out, and opening up the top for a couple 120mm fans. Then it will be complete. Then I will have to make a choice. To keep this case, or sale it modified. Then again I could get rid of my Stacker 810. I guess when I'm done I'll make that choice. By the way this case is to awesome. The only setback I have is the power button on the inside of the door.

I live right outside of Indy, in Zionsville, the closest one to me is right off of Michigan road, (close to 86th street) (like 5 mins away) # 1094 and then the next after that is in carmel #490...lol, not too close to southbend, but how much did you pick it up for (I am hopping to snag one for $48 :eek: )

the price on the shelf and the actual price when rung up are 2 different things. the price when on the shelf for mine was 119 but when they plug the SKU in it will show up as either 71 or 49 if you are lucky. so if ur BB is close by i suggest u do that. at my local BB it rang up as 71 where as the one farther away rang up as 49. hope this helps
