Lets bring the talk here so not to make the mods angry....

so far im having fun doing this lets put a running tally in here... for people to see what they and others are doing... even if we dont win it would be fun to see who could get lowest... same rules as contest apply

Screenshots are always good BTW

Tested my 8800GT from the system in my sig for fun..... roughly 35,000 haha
Tested the X850 in my sig also - roughly 11,000

9800 pro @ 378core/338memory - 6562 (stock)
9800 pro @ 189core/169memory - 3781
9800 pro @ 105core/117memory - 2342
9800 pro @ 95core/117memory - 2172 (seems like it wont go lower than 117 memory)

Seems like i hit the bottom... i was trying to get in the low 90's with core but around 90-93 the computer would lock up and i would get the "your gpu recovered from an error please restart"

Firstly, it's Powercolor :)

Seems FX5200 is the lowest DX9 performer
Unless we're missing some freak Matrox card

Gonna go try my P4 2.53 with my 9600pro in a bit. Let's see how that does. Too bad that computer (video card) likes to lock up/artifact randomly making me have to reboot.

FX5200 didn't have Pixel/Vertex shaders, it's not DX9 compliant. I think the Radeon 9000 is the lowest to aim for.

Edit: Bah, I guess I am mistaken. Could have sworn FX5200 was just a Geforce4 MX hack & the Radeon 9000 supported DX9 but very poorly... hmmm.

The FX5200 was indeed gimpy but technically supported DX9 if i recall correctly.

yea, FX5200 is in by no means a true DX0 card, afaik GeForceMX isnt a true DX 8.1 card eiher
but FX5200 seems to be the lowest for compliance

Did anyone find something that performs lower?

The SiS and VIA chipset integrated DX9 cores should perform worse than the FX5200. Are those disallowed?

Why a 9800pro? You can get vastly worse performance with something like a 9250, and those are plentiful.

9250 is directx 8.1. You have to have a system with at least radeon xpress 200 or nvidia 6100 onboard video to even pass the tests at minimum levels. The slowest cards you can use are like the radeon 9500 or the nvidia 5200.

You just have to have the compatibility for directx 9.0 and then you can underclock the crap out of your system and card. Be ready for a lot of artifacting and possibly crashing your system when severely underclocking the video card.

slot A FTW! + fx5200 w/ only cpu underclocked to 700mhz (from 733 >.<).

im still trying to find a way to underclock my fx5200.. its incompatiable with everything.. i should try riva tuner

Maybe you can turn off the fan (if your FX 5200 has one) and use a hair dryer pointing at the GPU to force it to throttle. Don't forget to run 3DMark with 64MB of memory. If the hard drive isn't constantly swapping, you're not getting a low enough score. ;)

the fan was broken when i pulled it out of the box.. as with coolbits2, never heard of it.

we spent a little more time with it and i think we got it as low as possible now, although we are going to try a few more things.. like a different pentium 2 or such (we have ~ 40 computers that have em). we are going to post it on the last day so.. meh Sneakeh
