Whoa, can't believe that alot of people are having problems receiving their items. All of the people that ordered from our store got theirs in about 3 weeks. Hmmm...Intel slacking off maybe?

I was registered in the first 5 minutes, wasn't verified until early November and took until Christmas Eve to ship, that was the ultimate shaft.

Not sure if anyone wants it, but I'm trying to build a PVR/DVR machine using an Antec Minuet MicroATX Case (http://www.antec-inc.com/us/pro_details_enclosure.php?ProdID=15100) and this D865GBF obviously is too large for that case.
If anyone here received one of the D865GLCLK boards as a replacement and doesn't want it or can't use it (for whatever reason) I'm in the market to trade my D865GBF still in the box, unopened. I just got my Retail Edge hardware this week on Monday and I'd love to get to work putting together my PVR machine.
This is a straight trade, board for board. You pay shipping to me and I pay shipping to you, simple. If anyone is interested please contact me at:
br0adband@OUTcoxDAMNEDSPAM.net
You can figure that email address out, right? :)
Thanks,

this years intel retail purchase plan was a major joke... not only did it last less than ONE day, but they've also managed to screw up and/or delay order after order.

Man, have you received your setup yet?
Also, one of my co-worker who ordered late is getting his 865 board replaced with the newer 875 board, so I think that is pretty cool.
Anyone know of this same kind of deal going down for AMD? I talked to one of their Rep at work and he said that they used to have something like it, and was gonna tell his boss to tell Corp. to do something like that for our store, but nothing official yet.

Whaaat? maybe a microATX 865 board but not a 875 board, I'll frickin go off on Intel if they give people 875 boards when I got this piece of junk.
I had 1 day shipping so I got mine Dec 26. They gave me free shipping because it took so long but still. I didn't get what I wanted.
AMD is supposed to have one with the Athlon64 coming up pretty soon.

No, I am not lying. It was because he already paid for it, and Intel ran out of the 865 board. I saw the letter (E-Mail) that Intel wrote my co-worker. Intel said that they were going to give them the new 875 board. When I checked the price on the board is was like $200+, I swear on it.
AMD is gonna have one? Where did you see or find out about that? Do you know how soon? Can't wait, hopefully I can tag along on this sweet deal.

Yeah, that was why I was a bit hesitant on going for a set. Hopefully another company will try and do the same thing but with better service. I mean, we should get first class treatment out of all people because we are the ones selling these things to the customers, hmmm...

Well they ran out of the 865GBF (ATX) so they were going to give me the 865GLCLK (mATX) but instead sent me the 865GRH (even worse mATX) and now they're giving 875 boards?
Sheesh, poop on you intel, last time I'm recommending one of your systems.

Anyone getting any recent shipments?

Intel told me mine would ship out this week. However, I'm raising the BS flag on that claim. Maybe I'll get an 875 board. I'm plannin on buying one from Abit anyway.

As far as Intel's site says I'm still on backorder, plus their phone number says they are closed. So I can't ask. I still call BS on it shipping this week, as long as I get it before the 6th of Feb, I'll be ok.

I just got an email from them stating they won't get shipment in for 2 more weeks, then add on how ever long it takes for them to process the remaining orders and ship them out. I am thinking sometimw around 22-25 of Jan.
I also asked about upgrading to an 875 board for fee, and they said no way....but that was before I read the latter part of this thread about them sub'ing in 875 boards...

They just shipped mine, I ordered on 11/20, it's going UPS Ground (ick). I never received an email saying that they changed the board, so presumably it is the original one.

You can pretty much count on this being a yearly affair. Usually starts in Augusts-September Time frame....Website for the actual purchase doesn't show up until a month or so later.

Sweet :).
I remember when I got a nice deal from AMD this way too.
Slot A 600Mhz + Mobo was around $199 (back when the CPU itself was 300+).

were you connected to the internet when you installed windows?
i work at the tech department here at my university and we have seen computers get infected within 30 seconds of being connected to the network.
theoretically, during a windows install, there is no firewall and no virus software, and while it is setting up drivers and crap the virus could have snuck in.
here we recommend that users dont plug their internet up until they have installed windows and enabled a firewall, as well as put some kind of antivirus software on the machine(which we provide on cd's to everyone)

I ran into this problem when I was building a computer for someone. The second we'd get connected to the internet (dialup none the less), boom, the RPC service would be hosed.
There must still be quite a few infected systems with this.

i wasnt connected to the internet "while" installing windows xp SP1 but i was after i installed my internet program...
that is weird... so how does that work my 56k internet connection let the virus in on me... now? right after a clean install? when my other system that uses the same ISP as this one doesnt?....
lol thats weird. I woulda never thought my internet company would let something like that through. :/
I got the updates installed now to stop it from infecting me anymore "thankfully"
had to keep going into the run menu and typing "shutdown -a" to stop the countdown heh... !! :/

Here's a temp fix:
Control Panel > Performance and Maintainance > Administrative Tools > Services > Remote Procedure Call
Then click Recovery tab at the top. Set First Failure, Second Failure, and Subsequent Failures to Restart the Service instead of Restart the Computer.
This will keep the Blaster worm attacks from rebooting your computer.
