View Full Version : Did Circuit City Screw Me Over?

OK. Here's my situation. I was at my Local CC last Sunday and noticed a stack of Lite-On LDW-411S's. I asked the salesman about them and he told me that they were $100 with a $30 rebate. Naturally, I jumped all over this and checked out. It didn't occur to me at the time, but as I was looking over the receipt and rebate form this evening I noticed that the cashier never asked my name and address and all that. So my receipt and rebate form list my name and address as:

Store City
Albemarle SQ
Charlottesville, VA 22901

and give the phone number of the store.

Now, I notice that the rebate form warns that it will only be honored for the name on the receipt, and obviously my name IS NOT "Store City." So what should I do, go back to the store and see what they can do for me, or send in the form after writing my correct information on the receipt and rebate?

All those warnings are usually just a bunch of horseshit but you might want to try to get it fixed. If anything, just include a little note explaining the situation when you send in your form. Make something up like "Oh, they told me that it would be fine to send it in like this..." That should be fine.

P.S.: How do you like it at UVA? I'm thinking of applying there come this fall and want to learn about it. Thanks.

Ive found that if they can, rebate centers will deny the rebate. If its not TOO much of a hassle, I'd go back to circuit city, and they should have no problem fixing the situation. I may be paranoid, but I like knowing my rebates have to go through.

Alright, I'll head over to CC tomorrow night after work and see what they do. I guess I'll need to take my UPC, original receipt, and rebate form. I'll keep you all posted on how it goes.

Cool. If CC has good cash register systems, then they should be able to bring up your purchase and edit the information on it and then reprint the receipt. Otherwise, they might just write down the proper info and then sign it or something with their store number, name, and whatnot. I don't know i've never been through this. Not all rebate centers are sticklers (sp?).

I'd say get it fixed as well.
On a side note:
I got an invalid rebate card because my "Purchase was not made within the required dates"
It WAS within the valid dates.
I called, the guy said they screwed up and would send a check.

They make mistakes sometimes. Anyone else have gripes about the whole sending the rebate on a postcard thing that they have now? I much prefer the old way, the one that had the security thing on one side. Tear off the two perforated sides. Check inside, etc...Those were much harder to get lost in the mail. I've already had to get two checks reissued because i never got them.

Actually in the past CC had troubles with companies not paying up on rebates.

CC laid the fucking smackdown and beat the shit out of the companies, so now they pay up.

And if he doesnt take your name or addy the rebate form should print without anything on the name/addy spot.

all you have to do is cross out that addres and wright yours in...if you want to make a mess then you can go back to circuit city and tell them that you want to change the names ...they will have to return the product and resell it to you....
you might be looking at the address that you send the for to .....but idk

I think you ripped yourself off?

Or am I thinking of the wrong product?

LDW-411 = 4X dvd burner, no?

Can't you get a 16X nec for.. oh, uhm .. $40 ?

Sounds like it is..

So, methinks you paid $70 a pop (after rebate) for 4X dvd burners?

/edit .. NEvermind.. didn't realize this was a total thread resurrection.
