When you boot up...hit F5 or F8..forgot which one..i havent done it in a while. There should be a selection that allows you to choose dos mode alone.

nah there isn't
theres
safe mode
safe mode with command prompts
reboot
start windows normally
Grab an old 98 Disk and boot to that, but u won't be able to see NTFS drives in dos.

If you have ANYTHING after ME, you can't.
There is no pure dos mode in windowsXP or 2k anymore; there is no 16bit core left.
Get DosBOX or VirtualPC.
