I don't suppose that the OS is backward compatable for 32 bit systems, if it was I would snag a copy :D

the itanium version is already out and has been for a LONG TIME but not many people have itaniums so they made it really hard to get ahold of. I think you can only get it when you buy your itanium. Sence it uses the x86-64 architecture it will not run on anything besides amd 64's.

Actually you can get a 6 month evaluation version for 32 bit systems. I currently have one but have yet to install it.

Nope, I just tried to install it on my AMD XP 2100+ machine and when it autoruns the CD it says "This Version of Windows Cannot Be Installed On This Machine."

I guess it looks for the AMD64 Chip.

Important: Windows Server 2003, Enterprise Edition, for 64-Bit Extended Systems is only compatible with 64-bit AMD Opteron–based systems. It cannot be successfully installed on 64-bit Intel Itanium–based systems.
Says Operton only, and since it's Windows Server 2003, I wouldn't doubt it. Finnaly for a change Microsoft is doing something good for the community.
