Well it's $120.
Bing gave me $12, but the Egg, on checkout, gives you free NVision 3D glasses (+$50 then -$50 as instant savings) so bing gives another $5 there. That's -$17

$30 MIR

So $120 - $17 - $30 = $73

Not bad for a GTS 250 1GB w/Nvision glasses. FYI the MIR is good for up to 3 cards and supposedly PNY is good w/rebates. Would make an excellent bang/buck SLI system for under $150... that's some serious performance in SLI for the money.

i think its about 20% better then 8800gt at best, so no its not worth an upgrade.

yeah probably not worth it considering the $30 MIR, you wouldnt exactly be wowed by the difference...but if you really want those glasses, go for it :D

Well, I diidn't even know about the glasses, that was a -$5 bonus, so I'll take'em.

Remember you can hawk the 8800GT for at least $50... so is it worth it for $23 ? Remember it might be a 30% difference considering your going from 512 to 1GB ram... just some thoughts....

Huh? The card is not a 8800GT, where did you get that? Am I missing something?

You're still paying nearly $100 for an 8800GT

This is 2009, not 2008.

You mean 9800GTX+ 1GB which is faster than an HD4850.

Yes, it is a lot faster than an HD4670.

HD 4850 and 250 GTS are identical in performance, +/- 2FPS depending on game.

a GTS 250 is just 9800GTX+ which is just an 8800GTS which is just an 8800GT with a few more shaders.

My point isn't to threadcrap, but to point out that selling last year's card for $120 + rebate isn't a great deal after all.
Especially a card that doesn't have DirectX 11 nor DirectX 10.1 support, unlike the similar performing HD 4850

is this better than a HD4670?
Yes, at least 40% better in performance

Is this card better then a geforce 8800GT? Sorry I am feeling lazy right now lol.
Yes it is, by at least 15%, but you may overclock your 8800GT to reach similar and/or same performance.

I was excited until I saw that it was after rebate. Please include that in the title next time =/

Ok, go get your 4850 1GB version for $73 AR. BTW 8800 GTS is clocked lower and only has 512 MB, so no, their not the same, and yes, it's more than 2 FPS difference. Also, difference between a 1GB GTS 250 and a 512 8800 GT is 15% MINIMUM. O/C both cards and your talking closer to 30%, memory dependent could be more.

BTW you can talk about $120 all day, because at the end of it, the card is costing me a total of $73. This is where I think you're missing the boat. I have never seen a card that performs like this for that price. Even without the rebate it was reasonable at $108 shipped (with Bing). How many 1GB versions of this card have you seen under $110?

You don't like the deal? Don't buy it. Me? I like 4850-4870 performance for $73. You find a better price on it, please post it. I stand by my post that it's a solid deal on a decent card. And no, I don't buy a $73 card so I can play all three DX 11 games that are out now.

ugh. this is all rubbish. all the cards noted so far are all virtually the same farkin thing. if you have an 8800gt, dont even think about upgrading to anything less then a gts260 or a 4870, and even those two cards would only be a marginal upgrade. PERIOD!.

jesus azn! $80 MIR?? wow who got in on that deal i wonder LOL

rubbish? nahhhh. marginal upgrade? yes, i already said that, but you're missing the whole "sell current card to recoup almost all of the money you're spending" angle. it will cost...well, almost nothing in the end for some people to get a better card that despite not being cutting edge is still quite fast IMO :)

I bought this card on this deal because it is an upgrade to my htpc's SLI'd 8500gt's and it will allow me to run gpugrid on a second computer. Excellent upgrade for me and a great price.

The architecture doesn't take advantage of the extra ram, sure there's some boost.
But it's liek getting a 4850 1GB instead of a 4870 512MB

I've had good luck with Galaxy rebates... I received over $100 in rebates from them, 3 different cards...

OP Update:

Got the MiR and Bing CB.

Sold my old card on e-bay for $73.

Total cost of upgrade = $11 to ship my old card.

Posting here for all the naysayers to enjoy. :p

Did you get an email confirmation for your rebate? I ask because I got one for some PNY DDR2 RAM I bought ($15 MIR), but did not for this video card which I happened to mail out at the same time.

well if you can go from an 8800gt to a gts250 for $11, then i take back what i said and hell yeah thats nice :D

but really, dx10 cards are so 'the twenty hundreds'... this is 2010, and i want to play dirt in dx11:)

I got the e-mail a week or so ago. I got the check Thursday - already deposited.

Thank You.

Also of note this is the Rev.2 version. I think it's a die shrink. O/C core to 780 (so far) no issues after hours of gaming. Memory tops about 1130, can go a bit further but not stable after an hour or so... so the memory really doesn't go much beyond the 2200 DDR. Also this is the 1GB version, which is nice. Takes one 6 pin and very cool/quiet. Max temp so far per Precision is 62C.
