DFI strikes back with the DFI lanparty JR P45 T2RS

I had a the exact same problem. The small FFT test as the description says doesn't really test the RAM. So it wasn't too surprising that it turned out it was one of my Corsair XMS2 sticks.

The RAM itself wasn't bad since it could pass 8 hours of memtest but one of the sticks didn't seem to like running at 1:2 no matter the voltage(similar problems reported on the Corsair boards were solved with more power) so I exchanged them for a new set that runs fine.

I'd try upping the voltage to 1.9-2.1 first since 1.8 seems awfully low but if you can, try exchanging it.

AntiSocialMunky- thanks, I will try going up to 2.1V.

What other parameters should I tweak to get the chipset/ram stable? Thanks in advance.

What's taking Asus so long in getting the Maximus II Gene out? It seems the only good OC mATX board is this DFI board. You can find this board for only $120.00 or less now. Which is a good price for this type of board

It IS out already. In Europe at least.

Primary PCI slot closest to CPU socket will run at full PCI 2.0x16 speed when running a single card.

Worked for me with HD4890 and HD4770.

I thought I cleared the whole 8x/16x thing a while ago - the JR is 8x limited electrical, look at the back of your board. Period. 8x.

Pvhk usually gets them two to three weeks before we here in the USA do. When did he get his?

Shouldnt be too long then I'm guessing. The usual pattern is that Europe gets them 2-3 weeks before NA does. We'll have to keep our eyes open for it. :)

Well, you might want ot mess with the timing and make them looser but I don't really know. This isn't my specialty. You should check the OC forum if you can't jsut RMA the sticks.

I'm running into a bit of an FSB wall/hole/whatever above 410 FSB. I tried 450 to jump over it, and I then get a POST but my keyboard isn't recognised! Anyone else run into this?

Ok had slightly more luck this morning - decided to boot on the same settings that were giving me the keyboard problems? :p

Passed IBT High at 460, 470, then 480 BSODed part way through it and going back to 470 I got the keyboard thing again :(

Maybe time to go to more extreme voltages - currently:
CPU about +75mV
vRAM = 2.1
vNB = 1.3
GTLs reduced to 0.61 and 0.58.

I'm having some issues with my PCI X-Fi and this board (getting some random snap/crackle/pops in games and the CMSS-3D test is flaky in the control panel). Do you folks know if there is a "PCI clock synchronization" type setting in the BIOS? Anyone else have issues with a PCI X-Fi and this board?

I'm currently running a Q9550 @ 400x8.5 if that helps.

Thanks in advance.

Will the Vista drivers for this board work on Windows 7? I tried getting on the DFI site, but it seems down right now. Was hoping to install tonight is all.

Um, get the drivers off manufacturer's sites. Most Vista drivers excl. graphics work with Win7.

im running out of options for my rebuild of my system, i want the Asus M2 Gene but availability is no where to be seen in the US, i think this board is my only other choice without spending an extra 400-500 on an i5 or i7 build which i dont really need even if it would make video encoding go fast i can live with my Q6600 for a few more years at the least.

i want to replace my Antec 900 in favor of this mATX setup so ill be able to take my pc with me easier. also tone the noise down a bit.

but heres my issue with this board. the damn NB heatsink its so tall and ive been looking at the Zalman low profile heatsinks to use for my CPU but i doubt they will fit does anyone know what aftermarket Heatsink/NB cooler i should get for this? 70mm i think is the limit of most SFF mATX cases

It's easy to just snap off any fins on the NB heatsink that get in the way. I snapped off half the ones along the edge closest to the socket to fit my TRUE (it fits fine now).

Noctua NH-12P works well, Xigmatek and TRUE have their lowest fin too low for this board (you can orient them horizontally, but that creates its own issues).

well i cant use those heatsinks as its going in a case with only a 70mm height restriction or close to it so i wanted a low profile zalman fan similer to the link below, if height and size wasnt an issue, id just use the Big Typhoon im using right now in my antec 900. but im trying to down size a little to a case that will be much easier for me to transport.

the nb heat sink uses standerd pin placement right? so i could just get any copper aftermarket NB cooler. id be more willing to pop some pins off an after market heat sink than the one that comes with the mb incase i ever needed to RMA the board for what ever reason. one of these for example

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835708003

im probly not buying any heatsinks from newegg.. they always seem to overprice cooling solutions

im no stranger to using aftermarket NB heatsinks or using after market coolers. i just want to do all the homework i can on this MB before i jump in and spend money on it.

last thing i need is to spend 40 bucks on a aftermarket heatsink and it not fit.

I know the Zalman 9700 LED fits.

I'm still extremely pleased with the MB. The more I tweak it the more I learn about it.

If I blow it up I'm going P55 DFI and i5! :D

Good clock SonDa5.

I have had this board since last christmas. I've blown two, and am on my third. This board is extremely good, possibly the finest matx clocker ever.

However, tweaking it requires such a high level of knowldedge that it is probalby not suitable for the uninitiated.

I am stable with a Q9550 E0 at 4.0GHz using the P45 JR. I am also using 4 sticks of RAM (6GB in total).

I'm using the following voltage settings for 471 FSB:

CPU: 1.24V
NB: 1.21V
FSB VTT: 1.21V

DLL/RCOMP: Model 1, Model 1, Model 2 - this allows 4 sticks to work at 471 fsb

I see that you have stabilised at 500! I'd like to try and hit this next.

What settings did you use to achieve 500FSB with the Q9550?

Thanks.

I really don't want to blow it up. :D I nick named my latest build design Green Machine Solid because its electrical harmonics are so solid and balanced like nature and machine combined. :D

On tweaking this MB I can burn off an ABS profile for you later on and you can down load it and try it out. The thing is that IMO no 2 machines are the same and what works for one machine may not work for another. It has taken me almost a year to figure out how to really tweak this MB.

I just made this video which shows system temps and some voltages during a window mode Resident Evil 5 benchmark and Wprime 2.0 at the same time. Both CPU and GPUS(2xHD4770 in Xfire) are overclocked.

Below is an ABS file of the following banks with different settings that you can try out if you want. Be cautious. It works in my machine but may not work in yours. You will be able to see some of my work with my system. Some of the names of the Banks don't match the actual profile though. The 4.3 GHZ profile is up to date with the name.

ABS PROFILE FOR MY RIG DOWN LOAD

Thank you SonDa5

I enjoyed the Video and I have downloaded your ABS profile. I will try it on my system later this weekend.
Many thanks for your help.

I have been thinking about upgrading my RIG going i5 or i7 but haven't convinced myself the cost to do so would be worth the performance that i have attained with the DFI P45 JR MB.

I have also considered upgrading to the DFI UT P45 T2RS MB but havn't found any information that would make this a wise choice.

The DFI P45 JR T2RS is a monster. This MB has been stated to be stealth Asus Rampage destroyer. It is one of the best over clocking mother boards that DFI has ever put out.

Newegg is selling them for $114.99 right now.

Latest mods to my DFI P45 JR.

TR HR-05 SLI/IFX and Enzotech SLF-1 sealed with Gelid Extreme GC thermal grease.

^^ what do you use as the CPU cooler given that you oriented NB cooler the way you did?

What kind of temp drops did you see on the chipset? Did it help the mosfets too?

Doing some work on my RIG. I'll have it put back together before the weekend is over.

I anticipate lower temps on my mosfets and NB. Also anticipate SB to be cooler as well with the enzotech copper heatsink with fan.

That is ******* hardcore.

Just awesome, man. I love it.

Thank you.

I have put alot of thought into this build. I wouldn't have been able to have made any of my build possible without a rock solid MB.

I just added another 2x2GB of Corsair Dominator PC8500 to compliment the G. Skill PC8800 2x2GB. I was hesitant to mismatch the RAM but I got a great deal on the RAM so I figured I would pop it in and see how it reacted with my 4.3 GHZ RIG and it booted right up.

CPU-Z info:

I'm so happy with this MB. I see many MB's that are out their that I think about trying out but when I see how well my RIG is operating it makes it very hard to change what I have built.

I just rebuilt my system and chose the DFI P45 JR T2RS and so far have no compliants, great motherboard.

not to give this the dirty bump...

just picked one of these up and i wanted this thread to be here when the brown trucks drops her off. :)

Are there any retailers left in the US that carry this? I haven't been able to find a Canadian e-tailer that stocks it and I'm looking to pick one up.

My adventure with my DFI P45 Jr is coming to an end. :(
I'm upgrading to DFI X58 JR with i7-930. :)

It was a great journey. Time for another adventure.
