Microsoft: Buy Office 365, Not Office 2013

I don't think this true. The EULA implies you only get one installation, which is where this seems to come from. But the instructions for how to remove Office 2013 include references to the same 5 installations as previous versions.

Galaxy 6 Weeks of Christmas GPU Giveaway! Week 6

I believe that Galaxy makes a superior product, and that their GTX 680 continues that tradition. I would be very happy to add this to my current machine.

    Your Thoughts On Xbox Smartglass?

It's gimicky in alot of ways, and I agree with earlier posters that I don't really see much of a need in gaming, but it has some interesting implications for entertainment. I already use my xbox mostly as a media hub. I really can't stand many console games that I can play in PC instead. So...

Windows 8 Could Have Nine Different Editions

We (CTO, Senior Mangement and testing group) met with Microsoft last Friday about Windows 8. According to what we were told, a few of those SKU will not be available to the public, but only to OEMs, the ARM and Starter editions in particular. What they indicated is that the publicly...

    Getting Gouged By E-Books?

They're both charging more...the publisher and the retailer...because they can. We're buying the books at the price. They both gouge and so far, we've let them...and probably will continue to do so. The infrastructure to store and distribute E-books is pennies on the dollar compared to the...

    Getting Gouged By E-Books?

It is gouging. I had a meeting with Hought-Mifflan last year talking about going electronic for textbooks and in the school system. They spent $85M in 2009 on shipping to resellers alone...just for textbooks. First runs of a book are usually around 50k with an expectation of a 52% sell through...

    Four Weeks of Galaxy Give-Aways!

Count me in. I'm building a new system for my son, who's finally old enough to do some serious FPS gaming with the old man. His 9600gt was fine when all he wanted to do was play Zynga games and watch youtube, but it just doesn't cut it for BF3 or MW3. ;)

EU Data Protection Reform To Replace National Laws

I think there won't be a European Union this time next year after Italy, Greece, Portugal, Spain and Ireland default, so this law is a moot point.

The WTF Video of the Day

What's more disturbing than the fact that they made it is that they got done, watched it, and someone said "yeah...this rocks...we need to put it on YouTube!"

Bon Jovi: Steve Jobs 'Killed' The Music Business

I'd say that's pretty dead on. We are not the norm. It just seems to me that the sheople make up the majority of consumers are missing out with the new paradigm. Uh...yeah. It happens all the time. It happened all the time when they sold 45s fifty years ago, and it happens all the time with...

Bon Jovi: Steve Jobs 'Killed' The Music Business

I'm going to have to say that in a way, he's right. Sure...crappy music and a stupid pricing model helped. And yes, there's no stopping the forward march of progress. But the essence of what he said is pretty much dead on. That whole process of saving your money, going down to Tower...

    AT&T Deflecting Defectors

For a company that's supposed to be all that worried about defections to Verizon, you'd think maybe they wouldn't price Atrix the laptop dock for the cost of a full laptop when all it is is a keyboard, screen and battery. They had the golden goose in the Atrix...but decided that rather than...

NASA Offers View of Major Winter Storm

Yeah...I was thinking the same thing, heh.
