Rumble Roses XX @ [H] Console

...yeah, you've got the wrong friends, at least. Relatives, you can't do much about, but c'mon -- lesbian wrestling? I can't think of a friend (male or female) who wouldn't think that was hot. Now, the sucky gameplay is another story, so I'm skipping this one. -b

    To compress or not?

It looks like I'm going to have to run numbers myself. It'll be a few days, but I'll post 'em here. My expectation is that conventional wisdom will hold true and it will be slower, but in the absence of real numbers, I've got my doubts. Only one way to find out for real, then. Cheers -b

    To compress or not?

That's certainly the conventional wisdom, but I'm looking for benchmarks. The way I see it, the slowdown will be in CPU time, which at this point is a lot less expensive than disk time. I'm curious if anyone's actually tested it since the days of 386's and NT 3.5 and such. It seems to me...

    To compress or not?

I'm running an AMD nforce4 system with two 80GB 10k SATA drives for the OS on the si3114 controller in a RAID 1 config, and two 400GB 7200 SATA drives in RAID 1 on the nf4 controller. It's a nice system, and quick. However, I'm wondering if I'd get better performance compressing the system...

    Looking for dynamic o/c software

Well, yeah, not only have I thought about it, I have a couple of systems running folding. However, my main office gets morning sun and is routinely 85-90 degrees (F, obviously) when I start work in the morning. I need my workstation running overnight for some network stuff, but slowing it down...

    Looking for dynamic o/c software

Finally found it; Crystal CPUID: http://crystalmark.info/download/index-e.html Yeah, I want OC whenever I'm using the system, but when it's sitting at 3% CPU utilization, no sense pouring more heat out into the room (my system runs cold; my room is damned hot). Cheers -b

    Looking for dynamic o/c software

Hmm, don't think it was speedfan -- it looks like it can adjust fan speed, but not CPU speed. I definitely like clockgen, but it doesn't do automatic adjustments either. It's driving me nuts, because I can picture the thing, but I have no idea what it was called. Argh. Cheers -b

    Looking for dynamic o/c software

A while ago, I ran across a nifty piece of software for A64 systems that let you specify different HTT speeds, etc, based on CPU utilization. And now that I need it, I can't find it. All that I remember is that feature, and that it had an option to have a seperate window that would show the...

A64 OC Database & Overclock Guide

I've been running my san diego 4000 for a few days now. Not an impressive overclock, but this machine was built for silence and big memory usage (4GB RAM). ADA4000DAA5BN CABHE 0515SPMW Max stable is 2725Mhz (227 HT x 4, 12x Mult). Air cooling, stock (1.35) voltage. Cheers -b

    MY 3700+ SD SHIPPED!!!

My 4000+ shipped on Friday via fedex next-day, so I'm expecting it bright and early tomorrow (Monday) morning. Now I get to spend all week reinstalling software and getting the system set up. Fun fun. Cheers -b

    SLI tech / driver question

I'm just getting a new maching together using two 6600GT's, mostly to drive 4 monitors in windows. Of course, every now and then I'll want to play games, so I'll reboot to SLI mode for performance. What I'm wondering is if there's any hardware reason that nVidia couldn't change the driver to...

    a8n-sli premium: when? really?

Ok, it sounds like I've got a san diego 4000+ arriving by fedex middle of next week. I've got all of the other parts to build a pretty insane system... except the motherboard. I had been thinking that the a8n-sli premium would appear before my CPU, but apparently not. Is there any real...

    Building new 2GB system?

Thanks for the speedy responses! Sounds like I should go with a pair of patriot 1GB modules for now, and worry about the 2T thing when I need to move up to 4GB. Thanks! -b

    Building new 2GB system?

I'm looking at putting together a new worksetation; nforce4, athlon64 (3500+ 90nm, of course), a couple of 6600GT's in SLI (I'm more of a coder than a gamer). What I'm stumped on is memory. All of the nice, low latency memory I've found (OCZ, etc) seems to only be available in 512MB modules...
