    A nice thing to know would be if you would like to have this speed for read or writes. Big difference. The other question is, why do you need this kind of performance ? It may not be worth it for some applications.

    I guess you mean NTBackup doesn't support it. Using software like Backup Exec works fine, of course it's not free and without hassle, but in my opinion, it's not a bad solution when you have some experience with tape backup hardware and software.

    Cat5e is the way to go right now. Cat5e cable can work with 10Gbase T for short distance so there is absolutely no need to get cat6 cables.
