Got this one and can't recommended it more, it's great for gaming. Also a very strong point is the black level and contrast of the screen. At 0.18cdm for the blacks and 1485:1 contrast (true measurements) the display is top notch here. Color gamut not great tough but that's something for...
I have a rig with an el-cheapo X4 955 CPU plus a 7970GE GPU. Man, Mantle is a gift from God for this combo. Without Mantle, BF4 was playable @1080p ultra with 4xMSAA but there were area's in some maps were framerates sank around 30, even when there was nothing special going on graphical wise...
Won't Mantle be just a simple slider in Catalyst Control Center? (Off - On - Application controlled)
BF4 runs as it runs, i don't see why Mantle has to be delayed for this.
Saw this picture on a Dutch forum, thought it was nice to share.
The guy has all the hi-end cards, from the first 7000 to the latest R9-290X.
Only the 9800XT, X1800 and 6990 are not on the picture.
Edit: the picture won't open here, so here is a link to the forum post...
I wonder why Mantle isn't being used at BF4 launch, when all the review websites write their benchmarks (and people bying videocards based on those reviews).
Ofcourse you can say "it's not ready" but hey, doesn't AMD have a beta "Mantle driver" which those reviewers can use for the benchmarks...
Question is will the Mantle path be available at launch or later (december?) by a patch or driver update?
Would be nice if the 7950/70 are as fast as a Titan in BF4. :)
Okay, but unless miracles will happen in the drivers department, it seems that a single 7970/770 or even a 780 won't handle this game @1080p with 4xMSAA (>60fps).
Battlefield 4, Highest playable resolution.
Radeon 9700 Pro:
640x480 - noAA - 2xAF. Min: 23fps Max: 37fps AVG: 29fps
DX7 mode.
(But i would love to see a "9700 Pro 2013 edition". ;) )
I just bought an EVGA GTX570 HD Superclocked and loving it. It's slightly cheaper (here in the Netherlands) than all the others you mentioned and it has the highest clocks (797mhz vs 732/750). Cooler is quiet too under load.
I can't suggest it more. :)
Despite having 2GB ram, the 6970 performs considerably less in Battlefield3@Ultra preset settings (=incl 4xmsaa) than the 1.3GB GTX570.

What i would like to know, is there a difference in IQ in this game between dx10 and dx11 cards? I know dx11 should be using tessalation, but is this really noticale vs the dx10 cards?
