    r9 290 CF vs SINGLE NVIDIA 980

    Interesting results - while I generally agree that a single card is less headaches than a multi card solution, I was under the impression that crossfire 290s were significantly faster than a single 980. I was doing some benching recently on my 290 (1150/6400) and it came within striking...

    Worthwhile upgrade to the Lenovo x230T?

    So my X230T officially turned 2 years old, and I have been getting the itch to upgrade. With that being said, I haven't really seen too many compelling options that replace the form factor - the Helix is an undersized abomination and the Yoga 3 is actually much slower than the X230T (due to...

    The AMD 6990 card still a strong card compared to today's offerings?

    I had it - and when it worked, it was fantastic. More often than not though, it was tempermental, LOUD and a power draw (and this is coming from a guy who presently owns a reference r9 290). I traded it to a guy for a 7970, and while technically slower, it was far less of a headache. Plus...

    Ubisoft justifies its crummy PC port of Asassins Creed 4!

    Many thanks Kick Ass. Great rig btw!

    Ubisoft justifies its crummy PC port of Asassins Creed 4!

    Don't really want to weigh in on whether the game is optimized or not, but I was wondering if the following is a normal result: With rig in signature, I have to drop AA to MSAA 2X to maintain a constant 60fps (everything else maxed). Is that normal? In the very first sequence with the...

    Worth CF 7970 - Bang for Buck?

    I was in your boat (and I take it your considering the NCIX Powercolor deal?), and actually decided to sell my 7970 while it was still worth something and put the money towards a 290. While Crossfire is fantastic when it works, it is more trouble than its worth (I had run a 6990 in the past)...

    Success/Failure R290 -> R290X flash

    My XFX was locked, but the Asus r290x bios has its perks. No more GPU throttling and I managed to increase my memory overclock to 6300mhz (why this is, I have no idea) All in all, I am very pleased.

    XFX 290 @ EGG 399$ Plus promo code 20$ Makes it 379$ and free BF4

    Purchased this card from a local retailer in Canada. That's a good price. People have been kind of down on XFX recently, but there reference cards are just as solid as any other brand. Plus, the transferable double life time warranty is a bonus My mini review on the card: Cons...

    Success/Failure R290 -> R290X flash

    Just as a quick question, is it possible to brick your card with the dual position bios switch? I have an XFX 290 coming in later today, but I wanted to make sure there was a fail safe in the event the flash does not work.

    Intel i7-920 x58 vs Haswell @1080p and above - Still no urgency to upgrade?

    While I don't have any official benches, having moved from a i7 [email protected] to a [email protected], there is absolutely no difference in gaming performance at 1920x1200 in the games that I play (Farcry 3, Metro Last Light, Hitman Absolution). I haven't tested more CPU bound games, but so far my...

    4670k & 4770k purchased anwhere operating performance thread

    Using rig in sig, I'm running a 4770k @4.44 stable with 1.2v. Sadly, it requires 1.3v for stability at 4.6+, which to me, wasn't worth the increase in temps. Haven't had a chance to play around with alot of the settings. Just changed the multi, vcore offset and set ram to XMP.

    For those who bought Haswell. Was it what you expected?

    I just finished up my Haswell build and it has more or less met my expectations. With that being said, my expectations were tempered significantly after the official reviews were released, so I am content with my 4.4Ghz overclock @1.2v. Initially, I was hoping for 5+ ghz overclocks and...

    ASUS Z87 Motherboards - Overview, Guides and Official Support

    Has the Sandforce SSD drives dropping in and out on z87 chip sets been resolved as yet? I have an Asus Z87-A with a generation one Corsair Force 120GB drive. Like the issues encountered by Kyle, the drive drops in and out intermittently. However, applying the latest bios update (June 24th) did...

    Weird issue with Phantek TC14PE

    Prepping for my upcoming Haswell build, I picked up a Phantek TC14PE that was on sale locally (I have not received the CPU and mobo as yet). Wanting to test the cooler out, I thought I would throw it on my old i7 920 to see how well the cooler worked. To my dismay, the screws included with...

    Intel Haswell i7-4770K IPC and Overclocking Review @ [H]

    While I am really disappointed with the thermals and overclocking of Haswell, I think I am committed to making the switch from my i7 920. While it is still running like a champ at 4.4Ghz, the power savings, motherboard features (USB 3, Sata 6), and IPC improvements give me enough of an...
