I just ordered an Antec Case+PSU (450W of their silent type) combo from Newegg for my brother and hooked the thing up. When I press power, the fans give a very minor jolt and everything is still. Am I correct in assuming I got a bad power supply? I sure hope not because I drove 450 miles just to...
Ah good to hear. I'll experiment with a few drivers and give my roommate's 9800 Pro a try. Glad to hear someone definitely does not have the problem.
Nice backgrounds on that site.
Here's the background I was using when I noticed it.

Do you not have any problems with that? There are bands as thick as an inch running across the length of the screen on mine. If not, maybe it actually is on my end. I have the problem on both DVI...
This monitor really has me split. The picture is gorgeous, zero dead pixels and component input is excelent. My Xbox looked good and I'm sure an Xbox 360 would look even better. Xbox looked terrible on my Samsung 171MP.
However, the banding is terribly painful to see in any situation with...
The banding is due to the amount of colors used. If you're going from black to white and have 5 shades of grey, the step between each color will be extremely obvious. On the other hand if you have 256 shades of grey then the difference is much less obvious. On an 8-bit panel, you should have 256...
Ah thanks for testing that. I'm using the 81.95 drivers and an analog cable. Can't think of any other variables that might effect it. Not even sure if either of them would. I'm leaning toward a monitor problem that a lot of people just haven't noticed. I didn't notice it at all while I was...
To make a gradiant make a new image. A larger one makes it easier to tell so just make it 1680x1050 since you're not worried about saving it. The gradiant tool is available on the toolbar. It looks like a small bar which starts out light and gradually darkens. If you do not see it on the...
Thanks, I appreciate it. Where there should be a smooth color change you get hard lines seperating the colors. If you have Photoshop, a black-white gradiant will show the banding quite well.
It's a 24-bit monitor which one would think would not have these problems.
OlIv0rIolI, question for you since you're also using a 6800gt. Do you have the same banding problem? It is extremely obvious on any color gradiant. In World of Warcraft I've got about 10 bands starting at a central blue dot and slowly brightening. This pic is a perfect example...
Just got mine and I was amazed to be unable to spot a single dead pixel. Zero ghosting problems as well.
However, the monitor does have one major problem. It has terrible banding. I first noticed this on my background and when I made a wallpaper sized gradient in photoshop it was extremely...
Very cool, despite it not being my type of game - not a fan of horror games/movies. I was totally shocked by the intro. Spaceship flying in ya ya....wait....that was just a zoom in on a computer monitor in the game? I'm definitely looking forward to what modders can do with it, seeing as how...
Definitely give Planescape: Torment a try if you haven't already. Baldur's Gate beats it in fighting & music but it totally eclipses BG in story and character development.
Fairly similiar to mine, except I'm using a 3.0c @ 3.75. From what the benchmarks showed, Doom 3 should be no problem for that comp and it will run anything currently out beautifully. Just wait until you try FarCry at max settings!
Got the same problem on my IC7 with my 3.0c @ 3.75. It's been totally stable when stress testing it with Prime and CPU Burn-in (max CPU/mem usage) but it has been reporting ridiculously hot temperatures, 46-48 idle and 61 at max load. However, my SP-94 was hardly warm to the touch so I can't see...
