I'm just more comfortable with FreeBSD. I moved to OpenSolaris just for ZFS. There's no reason I need to switch, it's just preference.
I'm not doing anything crazy with it so I sounds like I'll be ok.
I'm planning on moving my OpenSolaris based ZFS box to FreeBSD and I want to keep my 6 disk raidz2 array intact during the move. I've confirmed that the pool format, 14, is supported by FreeBSD. I did a very quick dry run in VirtualBox exporting an array from OpenSolaris and importing it into...
Here's another random bird outside my apartment building. I've been busy so I haven't gotten to use it for anything real yet, but I'm loving my new 70-200mm f/4L IS.
I also downloaded the trial for Lightroom and it's the closest I've used yet for what I'm looking for when it comes to managing...
Hot damn!
It arrived. My Xsi feels like a toy on the end of it :) It was overcast and kind of late when I got back from work so I haven't really gotten to use it yet but I like the feel of it.
Translation: I just ordered a Canon 70-200mm f/4L IS
I'm strictly a hobbyist with my Rebel XSI but I also have the itch. It will compliment my kit 18-55mm and the ever popular 50mm f/1.8. I'm hoping I can find a free weekend after it comes and put it to good use.
Has anyone else...
It's actually the episode where they find Fry's dog and Bender is a magician. Both good.
Thanks. It's just a hobby for me so I have to drool over the good stuff but this one has served me well.
I just got a Dell U2410 and so far I'm loving it. It kind of makes my trusty 2005fpw look like crap in comparison and I'm thinking about getting a 2nd. You know, just to balance things out :p
You can see my year old 12TB zfs server sticking its head out on the left, I've been meaning to...
Pro even!
I got a new 13" unibody MBP on thursday. It's actually an early birthday present from my awesome girlfriend, and my first Mac.
This is to replace my late 2001 Dell laptop:eek: I've built several desktops in between, but figured it was time for a little mobile lovin'. I don't know if...
I'd never intended on admin'ing it from the web interface, it's just the first thing I checked to make sure it was up.
I'm already a computer geek so I know how quickly you can accumulate equipment, my apartment is stuffed :D
Thanks for the tips though
Just picked up a WS-C2924C-XL-A surplus from the company I work for. Luckily it looks like it was left in a working config, i.e. I didn't have to dig around and change anything for it to act like a regular consumer switch. Now I get to mess with it :p I've used IOS once years ago, so it'll take...
I had already held it and played with it a bit. Yesterday I decided to buy it. I put up some of the pics I took yesterday and today on flickr http://www.flickr.com/photos/malister/sets/72157606286419688/
I already see how I could benefit from different lenses, but the increased flexibility...
