Wow, I can't beleive you are having the same problem as I with a different Viewsonic monitor.
I have a VP2030b. The picture quality is incredible, but I am sick of the problems.
I am actually out hear searching for a replacement because I am tired of this problem with mine. Sometimes I...
Power on issues. I have to cold boot my system several times for the monitor to initate from post to windows.
And about half the time the monitor still doesn't turn on until the logon prompt. Viewsonic has RMA'd 3 of these without hesitation, but I am just fed up.
Ok, I've had it with my Viewsonic 2030b. I am going to sell it, but don't know what's good out there recently.
I do some gaming; quake, rise of legends, company of heroes; etc...
Do photoshop work and typical 'office' work. Speed and quality is somewhat important.

If you've got the cash, the NEC over a Dell anyday of the week. The Dell LCD's don't even come close in speed, but do in image quality.
If I had the cash and didn't have to budget, I'd have two of those NEC flagships.

I know, the Dell 2007fpw is quite a beauty, but if you are looking for something that is not quite as attractive, yet better in performance and quality, there are some good choices out there for less of a hit against your wallet:
I own personally:
Acer Al2051W
Others....
Acer AL2016w...
No. While some LCD's do a better job than others at running non-native resolutions, I haven't seen one that can run them as well as their native res. Especially under DVI-A or DVI-D.
First, I would consider what you intend to use your monitor for. For me, I wanted something that was great for graphics design as well as playing fast paced games like Quake4. IMO, a response time of at least 8ms is needed for tolerable speeds in fast fps shooters.
There are severl panel...
