okay, so apparently someone bumped my zonealarm up to highest security, which i suppose is the reason i couldn't reach the "internet zone". i adjusted it back to medium, and it connected right away.
weird, i had looked at zonealarm and had also made sure windows firewall was off before ever...
funny, i was coming to post the same problem...i had a network set up at my apartment, then moved into the in-laws, and had trouble connecting to their existing router...i used mine, and got two pcs, and a wii online, but my laptop will NOT connect to internet.
1. i have an ip. ( and subnet...
okay, so i went to the in-laws (where i'm moving to for now). and got my old dell, i swapped agp vid cards, and tada...i'm golden.
this tells me a few things...
1. the vid card i tried(pci) is no good,
2. my psu is still good.
3. i don't need a new processor.
4. i DO need a new video...
i already tried re-seating cpu and heatsink. i'm guessing it's the psu, but it's only about 5 months old. i am able to get my info off the hd, which was my main concern.
i'll try the psu when i move, as all my pc stuff is already in the new place.
monitor is alive, hooked it to laptop, and got video. the cpu is an athlon xp 3000 i believe barton core.
i am also getting beeps with no ram installed.
at this point, i just hope i can retrieve my info from the hd.
i was playing a game, and my display went blank. upon trying to restart, i had no video. i have since torn the rig down, rebuilt it step by step out of the case, using only psu, mb, one ram stick, one hd, and panel switches.
abit nf7-s2g mb
powercolor radeon 9600 128mb vid card
128 mb...
well, i don't get it, i tried it today, and the main pc popped right up. i did it through run, but it's also working under network places now. thanks guys.
ipconfig on main rig:
dhcp:yes
ip:192.168.1.100
subnet:255.255.255.0
gateway:192.168.1.1
lappy:
dhcp:yes
ip:192.168.1.101
subnet:255.255.255.0
gateway:192.168.1.1
db, only music and photos trying to be shared, and i thin it is the same user passwords and names...does that...
i was trying to get to the main one through my network places, i tried to get it from run, but network path not found message popped up.
this is happening on both sides, desktop and laptop give the same errors.
:confused:recently got wireless router, main rig is hard-wired to it, and laptop is wi-fi...
they can see each other on my workgroup, but cant access between them. no windoze firewalls on either...next step? thanks in advance.
