PCMag: Apple Is Ready to Ditch the Mac

And a gigantic fail if they do this.

What driver specs to prioritize for nearfield listening?

I haven't seen measurements of the Dayton audio tweeters but price wise they're a much better starting point for a DIY :) In general Dayton audio seems to be good value for money.

What driver specs to prioritize for nearfield listening?

Even more worrying than the drop in the graphs is the nonlinearity of the drop. This is going to be a problem in off axis listening in near field and far field with general power response. Otherwise the graphs look great. The RAAL tweeter seems to be 600-700 bucks a piece. It's a VERY risky...

Win 10 USB Mass storage device no longer working

Could this be the age old Windows stupidity with drive letters? Windows tries to mount the drive to a reserved drive letter and it fails. If that's the case you have to manually change the mount letter in the storage settings.

What driver specs to prioritize for nearfield listening?

Limited vertical dispersion makes it sensitive to positioning, the tweeter has to point straight at the ear. Otherwise the ribbons often sound nice (but some have bad distortion problems).

Windows 10 Fall Creators Update- October 17th

Weird statement considering mail is one of the most common attack vector against windows users. If you download your mail locally attacks can escalate without user intervention through bugs like this...

    ESET trying to fool us?

Just a week ago I used ESET free online scan to clean a friends computer that was running fully updated Avast. 6 different malwares was found. I wouldn't recommend avast to anyone free or not.

What could be making a seemingly clean Win XP slow?

Reformat will make it fast again most likely because XP like other windowses gets corrupted with time when people install programs on it. The inherent pitfall being system libraries and programs replacing them with other versions. So the more programs you install to XP the more likely it is...

How much RAM for Win XP Home Ed?

I seriously doubt Vista will ever be favorable since it brought nothing but eyecandy and most imporantly, trouble. XP was a true improvement in stability and ease of use over W98 where Vista makes things more difficult or in some cases downright impossible. Especially UAC is a complete nightmare...

One less feature, or is it oppression from "The Man"?

That's because the whole sound architecture of Vista _was_ completely changed for the worse because of it. ;)

    No 4 gigs on XP 32 bit,correct?

A single process is by default limited to 2gb unless special steps are taken - and to my knowledge no standard app outside heavy database processing is built to take these steps. http://www.oreillynet.com/windows/blog/2006/03/overcoming_the_windows_2gb_cac.html

    No 4 gigs on XP 32 bit,correct?

No I mean like how we use 32-bit apps that consume 2 gigs at most anyway and practically no app takes even that by itself. That leaves space for the OS and say, 10 photoshops running in the background if you have 3.5 gigs on XP32. So yes, 3.5gigs is more than enough unless you install bloatware...

Need to install Linux with a nice GUI on a P2 - 266Mhz; is that possible?

You didn't mention how much ram you have there.. I would try booting simplymepis on a livecd to see if it can cope with the hardware.

    No 4 gigs on XP 32 bit,correct?

I've yet to see a situation where 3.5 gigs hadn't been enough in XP. It's really a non-issue.
