In my opinion, while indeed the Spyder 4 is better at calibrating screens with varying backlighting, the Spyder 3 I have does almost as well.
At least it certainty is much improved over the default.
I guess there's a bit of a sensor lottery with the devices, so your's might not calibrate...
Here's my profile for those that requested it. I got a Spyder 4 Pro, so the profile changed.
My settings.
Standard mode
Brightness: 0 (this gives you 120nits)
Contrast: 50
Gamma 4
User color mode: 96 green, 100 blue, 100 red (that's to get 6500k before calibration)
Then apply the...
It's a very nice monitor. I'm considering getting a second to replace my old 17" samsung that pales in comparison to it.
I saw tftcentrals review of the calibration, and they did an ok job. With my Spyder 3 calibration, these were the best settings:
Brightness: 2
Contrast 50
Gamma 4
Color Temp...
Apparently in the hotdeals forum Dead Space 2 download was on amazon for $5 today.
Anybody see it? I don't. A link would be appreciated considering all the different versions of it.
I would post in the HotDeals forum, but I don't have 50 posts.
I call bullshit.
What makes super computers powerful isn't the amount of nodes, but the extremely low latency inter-connectivity.
Sure you could rent out Amazon's whole infrastructure, but with 10s of seconds of latency to share the computational workload, you aren't going to be doing...
I wonder what other features the top of the line board will have?
Hopefully it comes with decent onboard sound (X-Fi?) and I already spot a Killer NIC.
I'd be willing to sacrifice 4 DIMM slots if it means the board already has all the features built in and I don't need plenty of add-on PCI-E...
Interesting scaling, but what is your configuration?
I would love to see a comparison between:
Microsoft AHCI vs. Intel Matrix Driver
AHCI + Windows Software raid
Matrix + WIndows Software raid
The intel matrix driver makes a big difference, or at least used to compared to the default AHCI...
IE8 is finally looking comparable to Firefox and Safari/Webkit. Of course Firefox wins because of plugins. But at least IE8 is much more standards compliant to make web developing easier.
I just ran IE8 x64 vs Firefox 3.1_32 vs Webkit Nightly on the Sun Spider benchmark...
@Kyle or Brent.
1. I see you already addressed the fact that Edge-Detect was introduced a long time ago.
2. I use edge-detect with adaptive aa with "application settings" and 2x AA selected in TF2.
It seems to work fine at 2x. Are you sure it won't work? Or maybe it's just a limitation of...
I work for the IT department at my college, UCSD.
We require our residents to take a "p2p, antivirus, firewall, complex password" quiz before they are allowed to register for quarterly internet access.
Yes, the questions are dumb and easy to answer, but they are only there to illustrate...
Update: Catalyst 8.5 adds a fix for secondary monitors not waking up. So far all my problems with the G2400W not waking up have been fixed.
Another thing: According to my Lagom LCD calibration:
http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/
Brightness: 100
Contrast 38
Gamma (display drivers): .80 or .75...
I always run with vsync off because of the 60Hz limitation in most LCD montiors. Even though it introduces tearing, for me this is preferable because the teared frame at least represents a part of an old frame and a new frame, thus FPS games are smoother because you see more updates instead of...
