I'm thinking more for games and even for movies if the monitor has to scale things down. Also some older movies look very pixelated at 1920x1200 so at 2560x1600 they will look even worse.
So if you (or anyone else) doe get a chance to check it out at that res I'd appreciate your comments :)
Yeah anymore info would be appreciated, I have been thinking about this monitor but would like to know a few more things because I'm not 100% if I should go for one now.
If possible try it at different resolutions, how well does it scale especially at 1920x1200. What is Windows usage like...
I'd prefer one yes because I can see myself using this monitor at different resolutions. For example films or when I might need to do some gaming. In an ideal world you would want as little input lag as possible but I'm not a hardcore gamer so it isn't a huge deal for me.
Seen that...
Does this monitor have a scaler? Been looking at a 30" but I've got the NEC 2690 and I'm a bit worried about the high resolution when it comes to gaming and even watching movies, some my movies on the 2690 look a bit funny when I maximise the screen so on the 30" they will look even worse...
Are you referring to Samsung or NEC in the bold part?
I agree about NEC as well, if Dell can have their product out using the same panel, you would think NEC shouldn't be two months behind.
Hopefully NEC will deliver, have they been known to be late in the past?
The Samsung one seems to really be dragging on. I believe announced it in March last year and scheduled for a release around August 2007 IIRC but we are now in the new year and still no sign of the monitor here in the UK.

I would think mainly games. For some games the high resolution might be too much for their current graphic cards so if you want to play on high settings and have acceptable game play you might need to put the resolution down a bit. For example I can't see many being able to play games like...
I agree about the IPS panel part, that is why I am not looking to purchase that monitor but am looking more closely at the Dell, the rumoured LG monitor and waiting to see whether a new Apple is announced in the coming weeks.
I haven't looked that deeply into the specs of the XL30 in a while...
I am not the type to keep changing my comp so I would be willing to pay a bit more for something more future proof. Those prices for the Samsung XL30 are too steep imo but those aren't your normal monitors and are aimed at professional users. I think upto £1500 I would be willing to pay and if...
Anyone got any info on the the new 30" NEC that might be out at the start of the year?
Oh right, hadn't heard of the NEC monitor with LED backlighting so my mistake there :) I know Samsung have a local dimming LCD out but hadn't heard of the Sharp one. Was actually considering getting the...
