    Quasi-failed drive - what next?

Alright, a little while back a drive of mine died while doing some Aftereffects rendering - rendering was taking way longer than usual, and eventually it would hang the machine completely. After a bit, the machine would no longer start up with the drive connected. However, I was able to get the...

    Fastest TV Tuner software?

Aw nuts. Well, thanks for the help anyhow :) After doing a little more research it appears Adaptec made a special console-game oriented tuner device, so I guess I'll just pick that up ( http://hardware.teamxbox.com/reviews/general/45/Adaptec-GameBridgeTV-AVC1410/p1/ ). Thanks again!

    Fastest TV Tuner software?

I recently purchased a Hauppauge PVR150 TV tuner so I could run console games on my monitor. I'm trying to find the best TV tuner software for playing games on - I've tried a couple, and many have delays or lag because of feature creep (recording, post-process image correction stuff, etc.) Can...

Drive no longer showing in BIOS?

Interesting; well, that certainly could be part of it. However, it only started co-operating on this secondary PC. On the first PC, once it went out on me, the drive would never show up in BIOS, even after waiting a day and plugging it in later. It almost makes me wonder if something is bad with...

Drive no longer showing in BIOS?

The story gets more interesting - I tried this on my alternate PC, and to my surprise the PC manages to boot up fine and the BIOS detects the 120GB drive. I boot up and the drive shows up with all its files just fine. I copy over one small file as a test, which works fine. On my PC's primary HD...

Drive no longer showing in BIOS?

The other day I was doing some heavy AfterEffects work, and I noticed that rendering compositions was taking much, much longer than usual. One render that normally should only take about ten minutes took more than forty. A later render ended up freezing my PC. I hard restarted it, and the BIOS...

    Antec TruePower 500 + A8N32-SLI Premium Won't Power On

Update: When I went back to my room to put my PSU back into my system (a Neo 480W and a Asus A8N-SLI Premium), it would not power up at all. I left it plugged in and called Asus tech support, but they told me they would call me back later. While waiting for the call back (which never came, by...

    A8N32-SLI Boots but won't POST

I'm working on a PC build for a friend of mine, but encountering some difficulty. The system powers up, and gets the fans spinning and the optical drives are powered, but I get zero POST code or video output. The chassis has an onboard speaker, and I've tried putting my headphones in all the...

    Antec TruePower 500 + A8N32-SLI Premium Won't Power On

Ah, sorry, my mistake - it's a Truepower 2 550W ;) Well, I managed to get the PSU fan to spin up by jumping the 24-pin plug. I tried plugging in my NeoPower 480 to my friends PC (as I know it works fine on my A8N-SLI.) Still no-go, the mobo power lamp goes on, but no response from the power...

    Antec TruePower 500 + A8N32-SLI Premium Won't Power On

I'm building a PC for a friend, and I am running into a problem. I have the PC fully connected and set-up, but it won't turn on at all from the power switch - no fan spin-up, nothing. The green mobo power lamp is on, but I don't get anything else. I am trying to determine whether the problem...

    Death to the Game Industry

Sadly not true. Very idealistic, but unfortunately many great games do fall by the wayside. A great game will have difficulty selling without either great marketing behind it - word of mouth is important, but not always enough. Beyond Good and Evil was very highly rated, yet sold very poorly; I...

    Death to the Game Industry

They aren't buying the IP! They are merely distributing it and handling Euro publishing. That's not owning it. Katamari is still owned by Namco and Keita Takahashi. EA does not own anything of Katamari except European distribution rights, period. Distribution that Namco was not willing to...

    Death to the Game Industry

All EA is doing is publishing it in PAL territories - NAMCO never brought the original to PAL, so I'm glad EA at least steps up to support it. EA may not generate a lot of new IP (Maxis aside) but at least they are willing to help fund Katamari.

    Death to the Game Industry

...then we get even more bland grind-for-a-million-hour-MMOS! Whoo! When someone calls out that the Emperor has no clothes, they don't neccessarily need to direct him to the nearest Gap. In any case, the solutions bit is in the next article or in the Powerpoint presentation I linked earlier.

    Death to the Game Industry

There are some, but not very many compared to, say, the indy music or movies movement. You have to remember this: if you post on HardForum, or on any game/tech forum, you are not the average gamer. You aren't the mainstream; you're part of a very small subset of the hardcore. Keep that in mind...
