    2 hd's - hybrid + hd vs. ssd + hd?

so what software would you typically load on a dedicated SSD? and it looks like a vertex 2 SATA II writes about as fast as the intel SATA III, but where SATA III wins is it reads 2x faster. You think an xtra $100 is worth it for the SATA III?

    2 hd's - hybrid + hd vs. ssd + hd?

Finally getting around to replacing my 6 year old Dell Inspiron. Don't want Dell again, so looking at sager or Asus. Going to get 2 hard drives. Objective is to speed boot up time tremendously (wife is terribly impatient) plus have a cavernous hdd to store pics/videos/songs. I'm...

Win7 Friday. Anything I need to know?

So why buy the retail version and not the upgrade version?

    Need case recommendation fast

Thanks for the replies. It seems the Antec 193 is probably best for me, although I'm still a little concerned about the PCI power cables interfering with my 2nd GTX 260 given that the 2nd GTX 260 pretty much sits right where the cables leave the lower compartment to the upper compartment...

    Need case recommendation fast

I need a case fast and unfortunately, I don't have time to put in the proper research. My system is really messed up and I need to trouble shoot it this weekend. Which means I'll be removing all my components from my Antec P180b and trying to figure out what the hell is wrong. The problem is...

Relatively futureproof motherboard for a decent price?

Why do you guys feed the falsehood that mobos/cpus only last 2-3 years before they need to be replaced? It depends on the applications and applications don't change fast enough to obsolete anything in 2-3 years. Sure, you might get the new game or two that runs better with a physics processor...

    Newbie PhysX Question

So do you still have to load the drivers for your dedicated PHYSX card? I'm talking Windows XP here? If all you're doing is enabling the feature in the nvidia control panel and you're not using the PHYSX card for displaying images, then Windows wouldn't need to know anything about it. Or...

    Best upgrade from 8800 GTX?

To the OP, note the PCI-E power connectors. Some of the cards being recommended have an 8-pin power connector so if your PSU doesn't have one, then I guess you have to do something special (I don't know, I haven't researched it). I went from 2x 8800 GTX's to 1x GTX 260 216 and it's about the...

What's the equivalent of 8800GTX SLI?

Got my GTX 260 216 Core. Works great, no probs. There's one thing that should be mentioned though when going from 8800s or maybe even 9800s to next gen cards and that is the power connector. My PSU only has 6pin PCI connectors and the GTX280s (and higher) require one of the 2x connectors...

What's the equivalent of 8800GTX SLI?

Thanks, I usually would go with the top performer, but this is an unexpected purchase. Sounds like the 260 is the way to go.

What's the equivalent of 8800GTX SLI?

No, can't run vantage because my 8800's are corrupted and I no longer get a video signal in Windows. So rather than reformat, reload, reinstall, I'd just as soon buy a new card. By the way, main purpose is playing games at 1920x1200. (Oblivion, Fallout 3 mainly).

What's the equivalent of 8800GTX SLI?

In performance that is, not price. I've been out of the loop for a while and need to replace both cards with one card and I want, at the very least, equivalent performance and I need to order it ASAP. TIA

    8800GTX and Blu-ray?

Is it possible to watch blu discs at 1080p with 2x 8800 GTXs and a 24" monitor with native 1080p resolution (but at 60 hz) through the standard DVI cable/connection? I have AnyDVD defeating that annoying HDCP standard, so that's not an issue. I'm more concerned with watching at 1080p.

Anybody have their SATA bus take down their computer?

After 9 months of trial and error, I think I may have finally found the problem to my computer woes. It's either the SATA DVD/RW drive (the Samsung one in my profile) or the SATA cable that connected it to the mobo (which is now an EVGA 750i FTW). Background: Up until 9 months ago, I was...
