I received my 3rd U2410 from Dell today. They sent me a brand new unit instead of a reconditioned one.
There is no dead or stuck pixel on this one. But panel uniformity is back to the first unit I received. Left side has green tint and right side has pink tint. I'd prefer if the whole...
There just isn't a whole lot of options for high quality 24" LCD monitor that is priced reasonably.
Your cheapest option is to buy the Eye One Display 2 and calibrate the monitor under sRGB mode. You get the most accurate color this way.
Apple ACD 24" will get you pretty accurate color...
Dell here has agreed to exchange a brand new U2410 via their factory in China instead of sending me another returned/reconditioned unit. This will be the 3rd unit they send me.
They said asking for a refund will require approval and will likely to take a month to do so.
So fingers crossed...
I've the U2410 and I calibrated it using EyeOne Display 2 under sRGB mode and the color is acceptable. There is a bit grain in dark patches, due to Dell's color processing of Wide Gamut Standard mode to sRGB. However, you can use Standard mode if the LCD is hardware calibrated and viewing /...
Sorry, no, Firefox does not default to sRGB when image is untagged. I've tried it here, have you?
Different folks, different stokes. I found having incorrect color unacceptable, while I can accept some grainyness in dark images. I don't play games (at least not anymore), so I don't look...
To further show you what you have perceived being right on the brightness on the Lagom blacktest, do this:
Put the monitor in sRGB mode. Take the blacktest.png file, open in PS using sRGB working space and convert it from Index color to RGB. Then use "Edit->Convert to Profile..." and...
Is Firefox color managed? Yes and No.
Yes - it does display color correctly for JPEG images with tagged color profile.
No - it does not display color correctly for images without color profile. It just assumes the monitor's color profile instead, which is wide gamut in this case. Now...
I'd argue that the avg user surfing the web should use sRGB mode in order to get the correct color. Also, calibration using sRGB mode does produce a very small delta-E meaning accurate color is achieved. See the tftcentral review on this LCD.
With Custom mode, you reduce the red channel...
I had Spyder 3 Elite for 2 days and returned it. It is just not a very accurate colorimeter.
Eye One Display 2 is the defacto standard amongst graphics professionals/photographers.
The other unit I'd recommend is the Pantone Huey or Huey Pro. The Huey gets the job done better than the...
By providing a LUT in the form of a monitor/color profile. You can set the ICC profile in Windows (WinXP will need WinColor in order to activate the ICC profile, Win7 does it automaically).
You really need a colorimeter to take the tint out. I'm not talking about pink/green tint panel non-uniform issue.
The defult sRGB mode is greenish and i1 calibration confirmed this as well.
You should set the U2410 in sRGB mode if you do not have device like i1 to calibrate/profile your LCD.
Using Standard mode (wide gamut) will give you wrong colors on Windows desktop and for applications that are not color managed.
If you have profiled your LCD using a colorimeter, and edit...
I removed the monitor profile and yes, there is no banding in Standard or sRGB mode. With monitor profile in place, there is an ever so slight banding..
I redo my i1 measurement, and opt to use large LUT. It seems to improve things a little bit.
