Thats gonna be a loud HTPC!! Why not use a NAS or server for the storage, and keep it in the garage or under the stairs?

Hardware RAID5, 3Ware SATA II Controller.

Been running now for a few days, and not had any issues at all! Will replace all my Samsung drives with 2TB drives over the next few months.

Finally got my dead RAID card replaced. Have set up 3 of the Hitachi drives in a RAID5, and no problems so far. Array is just initializing at the moment, but it formatted ok in Windows, which is further than i've been getting with the Samsung drives running in SATA II mode. Once completed...

To be honest with 2TB HDDs at ~£60.....why bother wasting time compressing/recoding/etc?

What WMC plug-in for music are people recommending? I'm using the stand alone Ultimate Jukebox at the moment, but looking for a good plug-in.

Ok, thanks. I might look at FlexRAID as well, but still looks very much in development. I've got backups, but its a hassle having to "maintain" RAID arrays every couple of weeks.

Is he able to run them in SATAII mode?

Are the drives running in SATA 1 or 2 mode?

Thats me done for today, my fingers and thumbs are in bits from cables braiding and routing. Hopefully get some done over the next few days.
