I'd probably get nothing, as i'm replacing a 6800gt. You made me feel a bit better, however. I'm just being wish washy although it's really my bday present to myself...after that I might need to get some more memory for this different mobo, and maybe a beefier power supply. The cycle continues...
I ordered the card tonight from Newegg and it hasn't made it past stage three yet. Should I cancell the order due to (seemingly) all of the problems people are having? This is making me loose sleep. Help!
Well thanks for all of the suggestions! I ended up ordering the asrock, as it was not as expensive as some of the other options, and I didn't really feel like going for everything a more expensive DFI would have given me. After I get comfortable with this one, I'll probably give DFI a shot...
Thanks for the reccomendations. I usually get asus all the way but i'd be willing to experiment here. the asrock is an asus brand i think, i might try them or dfi this time.
I'm looking for a 939 mobo to get started into somewhat serious overclocking. I've got a 754 system right now that has limited options for overclocking - I think i have it about 200mhz higer than stock, running my fsb at like 220 or so. Anyways, my buddy sold me a 3000+ venice core and I'd like...
I've got a toshiba m55 with that chipset on it. It's not too bad, but i'm running a pentium m and a gig of memory. I havent tried anything too big on it, but quake 3 engine type games should run ok. I'm going to put RTCW on mine and see how it goes.
Well, here's the thing. If i just wait, it'll be a cpu+mobo+memory+video card upgrade, and lots of $$. if i upgrade to 939, i can keep some of the memory i have now, get a used cpu, upgrade to a dual core later and run a nice videocard like a 7900 gt or something like that.
That's a thought. I'd might wait for the conroe/am2 to come out and see what a popular combination is here, and I have a card I could use in the mean time for 2D stuff. Hmmm. I might be intrested in taking offers on it then, heh.
I'm trying to figure out if a 7800gs would be worth the scratch. I've got about 300 saved for the time being and I am thinking about going to the socket 939 route. I've got a 754 asus mobo, 3200 DTR proc at 2200mhz, and a 6800GT that is clocked at stock speeds for now (until i get my artic...
