Thank you for trying, but...
NEC 2690wuxi - great panel, too much inputlag. ThePlanar PX2611W with the same panel doesn't have that problem (12ms) but is not being produced anymore it seems.
Dell 2709W - way too much inputlag...reports of 60ms? Just awful, every non-TN monitor >=24" Dell make...
The lack of replies confirms that the market just doesn't have a solid fit for this right now. The only option I can think of would be the Viewsonic VP2655wb but there haven't been inputlag tetst for as far as I could find. With some luck, the lag will be less than what the competition's...
Sorry to do this, but I've been searching around on here and google + prad.de, tft central and so on, without much result. I guess what I need is a little update on the current standings for ~26"/27" 1920x1200 displays, and which are still readily available.
Should absolutely be IPS, because...
I came across a thread like this ages ago (2006/2007). Didn't have the heart to post my setup then, but I worked hard and here it is:
The UTP cable that can be seen below the desk at the back (along the wall) is where I hook up my laptop (from work), when needed. It runs to a gbit switch. I...
Is this complete rubbish like I think it is? Can anyone confirm this?
If I select >60Hz in Windows, my screen goes blank until Windows switches back to 60Hz.
The monitor can only do 60Hz. And that means the gfx card HAS TO be outputting 60Hz. When I edit the registry and set 100Hz as default...
I decided to bite the bullet and order the HP LP3065. Can't wait for it to arrive. I reckon it's just not worth waiting any longer. My 8800GTX will age, and even if the rumours of a new HP TFT of that size with a scaler going to be released, it would have to actually scale better than the nvidia...
I decided to bite the bullet and ordered myself the HP LP3065. :D I can't wait for it to arrive. It wasn't in stock, so I hope it gets here soon. I think that even if the rumours about a new HP TFT at this size turn out to be true, and it has a scaler, actually using it would probably cause...
Thanks for the input, guys. I have decided to go for a 30". I do NOT think 1280x800 is the holy grail, but it's very simple, really: on a 30" you can always still run a smaller resolution in 1:1 mode with black borders around the image, if upscaling it looks bad. So there is no point in getting...
First of all thanks to all the posters for the incredible amount of info etc.
I'd like to raise some questions about input lag and scaling, quoting DustinFrazier:
Which is the reason I'm even reading this thread, because I don't own any consoles etc. I just want to be able to play games in...
Questionable choice of words, I know. But you're right - I don't want to buy a mobo with a chipset that's already a year old. Anyway the upgrade can wait (for the Penryn perhaps). I'll just get a TFT and upgrade later.
Image scaling test with the HP 30" TFT:

Doesn't look bad to me! I'm tempted. Image quality is top draw too, apparently. And no overdrive (a good thing) but still fast (a good thing)...hmm...better check some more reviews.
