Don't bother with the second card. You have to enable surround to game on multiple screens. The card can drive 4 screens. There's no appreciable difference in performance unless surround is on.
I've got a 2600k and I can't even imagine in being remotely worth an upgrade yet. In the past my CPU's only lasted me about a year or 2 before I'd be ready to get something new and shiny.
This CPU has been an absolute beast!
I've built systems with 3570k and 3770k CPU's, 4670k and 4770k...
That's a pretty hefty overclock, likely above average.
I don't know how different the 2500k is vs my 2600k, but my chip runs stable at 4.65 with a slight bclk bump. and 46 multi.
I had to do plenty of tweaking, and slight voltage boost to obtain that.
No matter what I do, it won't run...
Man that brings back some memories
Athlin 800 was my first OC'd system. It was basically the same as the 700. Same ceiling too.
Athlon XP 2500 Barton was the next.
Then I jumped to an Athlon X2 3800 which I promptly upgraded to a GO stepping Q6600.
Got that beast up to 3.2Ghz on my...

If it was that big if a deal, all cards would come with one.
They do make the cards more rigid, but it really shouldn't be an issue unless you plan to put a water block on it.
I've got 2 760s. one with a backplate. the other without. I find the backplate to be a pain when it comes to taking...
Thanks for the review. I have an X99-A on the way. It should be here this week.
Looking forward to playing around with it, we've got a 5820k and it will be hooked up to a full loop. I'm glad not jumping to the Deluxe wasn't a bad call.
I bought in. Or rather I convinced my girlfriend to buy one. She was planning to build a photoshop/3dstudio/premiere computer, so it fit perfectly.
got her a 5820k.
waiting for the watercooling equipment before overclocking, but I'll post up benchmarks once I do.
why would it be 8GB max?
I'm pretty sure I had 16GB in my Q6600 system
sorry, no suggestion for a board. Anything for that socket would be quite old, and most certainly used.
haven't had a chance to play with DDR4 yet (it's in the mail) so i can't speak with experience.
However I can say that memory speed does play a decent part in newer games. I just completed a series of benchmark test with 8GB, 2x8GB and 4x8GB of the same DDR3 1600 ripjaw.
No games made and...
That has to be a mistake.
There's no way that an i5 wouldn't be good enough. There are so few i7s out there compared to i5s and i3s that they would be severely gimping their install base.
