I think the problem is that games used to have much simpler controls than they do now. Took less time to get into them and start enjoying. Now, I dread seeing the damn instruction book.. This is what potentially separate the Wii from everything else IMHO.

The core of this problem is licensing. EA should NEVER have been able to acquire the NFL, NCAA, MLB, NHL, and NBA licenses simultaneously. That is what killed sports gaming for me. The DOJ should realize this was evolving into an antitrust situation and eliminated it.

Pro Evolution Soccer is the ONLY alternative (and in this case, it's better) sports game on the PC. You are exactly right on all other accounts. My main gripe is that PC doesn't even get the NCAA football or basketball games. That's just a load a sh*t IMHO.
