    Headphone suggestions?

I just got a pair of Sennheiser HD 497 today after following the recommendations here. Oh my God :). They are great, especially after using them all day. Very comfy on my head and great for games and music. I listened to some DVD audio on them and it was awesome (Audigy 2 ZS sound card). I...

Nvidia Forceware - test settings button - a dependable GPU max-overclock detector?

Yeah, I think my RAM is the problem. Oh well, I think I'll leave it alone. Thanks for the input.

Nvidia Forceware - test settings button - a dependable GPU max-overclock detector?

That's what I thought. However, when I see these poly problems on the turtle and clock back the core (and only the core) they go away. I am wondering if the heat spill over from the heat sink on my NV Silencer 5 to the RAM from the GPU is causing the flickering polys on the turtle. I'm...

Nvidia Forceware - test settings button - a dependable GPU max-overclock detector?

Thanks but I understand that. I was simply wondering what the difference in artefacts are between clocking the two.

Nvidia Forceware - test settings button - a dependable GPU max-overclock detector?

Yes, the turtle in test 4 of 3DMark does seem to be the tell-tale for artefacts. I'm curious though, how do you know the flickering on the turtle is GPU or RAM related? Are artefacts from RAM different to artefacts from the GPU? How do you tell the difference?

    NV 5 Silencer + 6800 GT : Detailed Numbers

Well, it's supposed to work fine on nVidia cards for checking artefacts. It simply won't change the clock frequencies of nVidia cards. I've used it on the 6800 GT in another PC without issue.

    NV 5 Silencer + 6800 GT : Detailed Numbers

Very warm day today. Ambient temp in the case after playing Halo for 2 hours is 31 degrees (stopped playing about 20 mins ago). So I decided to test my max Overclock. Coolbits won't let me go above 422/1100. I ran the HDR demo for about 10 mins at 420/1100 and the temps topped out at about 70...

    NV 5 Silencer + 6800 GT : Detailed Numbers

CastleBravo: 1) The only pain was removing the white thermalgunk from the RAM chips because it seems it had solidified - the stuff on the GPU wasn't solid. So the GPU wasn't so bad but I did find that there was too much thermal goop on the GPU and some of it had gotten onto the diodes (?) on...

Glad it was all resolved. Random question for John regarding BFG warranty: I bought a 6800 GT OC in the US from Best Buy. I live in Europe. If it goes belly up, do I have a warranty, if so what is it? Thanks - v satisfied with the card btw.

Cut your computers life in half...

If your CPU will run faster on the same voltage then you shouldn't affect its life by a measureable amount. It's when you start pumping a lot more power through the silicon than its spec that life is curtailed. If you can run a 3 GHz P4 at 3.6 GHz on about the same voltage as it requires to run...
